FT Baggage Tags
I was wondering how many people actually have/use the FT baggage tags? (They are only $1.50 + $1 S&H) It really would be a great way of noticing/meeting other FT'ers out there when you are roaming the terminals or waiting in line... somewhere.
Just wondering. fan of chex- |
I've got one on my carry-on and one on my laptop bag. See you airside http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

chexfan, you may want to read a thread I started a while back about the tags.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000295.html I had a 'tag' encounter in SLC airport about a month ago with a CS Manager from Starwood. She told me they (SPG) watch FT very closely to get feedback from seasoned travellers. |
shadow... wonderful. Thanks for the link.
SO... has anyone made a "FT-Connection" via the luggage tags? mike. |
How do I get some of 'em tags? I checked the old thread, but it was not helpful...

Click on the 'Store' Tab up top (Home, BB, FAQs, Events....) http://flyertalk.com/storefr.htm
Only $1.50 a piece (with S&H adding $1 for each 10 ordered). mike. |
Thanks!

I have one on my rolling bag and one on my laptop case. I have not met anyone from FT (then again, I am usually running though the airport, but that is a different story). However, the other morning (5:00 am to be exact) as I was leaving the Hyatt O'Hare, someone noticed the tag and asked me about FT. I told them all about it and they told me they were going to join!

think i am going to get one of those caps... u can spot me gates away!
(running around atlanta airport) |
Got my four luggage tags last week and will be using them for the first time next month at LAX/DFW/MEM/STL -- hopefully will meet someone and get my seven bucks worth!!
|
Thanks chexfan for the link. I didn't realize the "sootkase tags" were available now. Placed my order for 6.

Hate to report, but the Flyer Talk luggage tags don't hold up. All of my have broken near the hole where the plastic band attaches. Even the one on my computer case has broken (as well as the one on the roller bag I carry on). The plastic is very thin and brittle. Randy, we need a product recall. I love having FT tags, but all four of mine are broken.

I have one on my Tumi carry-on...breaking apart after 12 or so transatlantic flights...

They are very useful, as that has been the way that other FTers can make certain that it is indeed me (Belle3388 and Gaucho100k).
They have not done well on checked baggage, and an improved design for additional durability would be appreciated. |
|
yes, emailman and i were to meet for the first time at the zurich airport by identifying each other's FT tags... (some secret society we are in!)
mine was broken off (checked baggage), luckily emailman has his neatly tied and placed on his brief....case... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif if not, we wouldn't have been able to find each other, Rudi wouldn't have found us, and most regretfully, i would have missed DUS! and from now on, i am going to carry EXTRA tags with me because they DO break off easily... so far no one has come up to me to say hi because of the FT tags... (other reasons, yes http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) |
The FT luggage tag is a bit "fragile".
Now the Old Gold FT Luggage Tag is a different story. That baby can withstand anything - earthquakes, typhoons, LGA, hurricanes, aborted take-offs, FT pub crawls! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif |
I guess my FT luggage tag is made of some sort undesructible material. Still in one piece!
I am still waiting for my first FT Luggage Tag encounter though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
I guess I had known for a while that these tags are available, but I appreciate you're bringing them to my (and everyone elses) attention. I think it would be pretty cool to have an "FT experience" while waiting in the airport! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Never noticed that y'all have products too. Just ordered some Luggage tags http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, I love the FT tags, but they are fragile things ... keep ordering them nonetheless.
|
My tag was bent in half on the first trip, it took.
The Second trip added a crack just below the hole. It is about 1/2 way across the tag. Will I get compensated? I ordered 10 of them. Didn't realize I might have to use them all before long. |
essxjay -- I'm with you. The tags are indeed fragile...
My first one was torn in half as I lifted my laptop case from under the seat in front of me. It merely snagged between the tray-table and the seat pocket (for all of a milli-second). Next thing I noticed was my business card floating to the ground. Most other tags I've had can withstand some pretty harsh treatment; but these sure can't! Nevertheless, I enjoy having it on my bag, just in case I happen to run into a fellow flyertalker! By the way, here's a few more discussion threads on the topic: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000534.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000355.html |
After my first tag broke on checked-through bags, I now display them prominently only on my hand luggage. However, still waiting for that first FT encounter!!
|
So has anyone brought this to Randy's attention? A few years ago I officiated the Copper Bowl and they gave us nice luggage tags, but they all cracked at the top http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif I managed to snag one just as it broke to have this small momento of the game, which is now called something else.
|
Why not glue two of the fragile one's together for additional strength. They might last that way long enough until Randy sends us our solid platinum ones when we get to our
10,000 post--complimentary, of course. Just kidding, Randy, but how 'bout making sturdier tags, so i can order some. bj-21. ------------------ 'Tis better to have played and won, then never to have played at all. |
I've had some interesting unexpected airport experiences, meeting people who spotted the service pin for the campus/community service fraternity I belong to (Alpha Phi Omega). We're talking a pin smaller than the nail of your pinkie finger. They must have had eagle eyes....
