My wife sits in the tub and showers. Like you I always shower. But I also always shower at home. Both of my full bathrooms at home have tub/showers.

If it's a 5* in Asia, yes. On my feet all day, possibly exercising in the evening...that bath will be heaven sent. And given that it's a 5* in Asia, the tub will be huge and the amenities great. My favorite is probably the bathtub in my room at the Fullerton in SIN. Most bathtubs in US properties are there for the convenience of children.

When I'm traveling for business, never. When I'm traveling for pleasure, occasionally. The last time was probably after a long day of skiing at Sunshine near Banff. We were upgraded to a suite that had a massive jet tub that looked out toward the mountain.

For those responding about how great the hotel jacuzzi tubs are...Do you know how gross the internal plumbing is in those? Think about it. Many, if not most, of the folks using these are doing so with sensual reasons if you know what I mean. So fast forward the next day. How is the maid going to clean the internal plumbing that sucked and blew all the bodily fluids into the pump and nozzles, etc. That's right. They will spray a little cleaner and maybe mop them out with a used towel to dry them out. Then the next guest moves in.

That's what my wife does or so she says. She has no qualms about using the bath in hotels. I still sleep with her despite this hangup.

That, the sheets and duvet too! How about the towels also, right? Actually, I realize the irrationality of it given how much time I spend in hotels so best not to think about it too much and just give in to the little peculiarities here and there lest it becomes a full-blow case of OCD!

The cheapskate in me says that's the way to go since the heating and amount of water expended is built into the rate so might as well as get your money's worth.

When son was 2, we did a 17 day trip to Europe and had a room with a tub for only one of those nights. At that age he was terrified of showers so instead of the nightly ritual of a calming bath we had a nightly crisis of fear and tears. For several years after that I asked very detailed questions about bathrooms before booking a room.

Roughly every other year we spend a week at a favorite resort in Orlando with huge spa tubs. First night there I fill it with the hottest water possible, add a little bleach/disinfectant and run it for a little while. Drain, rinse tub and jets with fresh water, rinse and enjoy. I swear those tubs are half the reason we go there.

Recently stayed a hotel that I regularly stay at for work and to my surprise was upgraded to a suite, I was knackered after a flight was going to just order room service and sleep, until I saw the Jacuzzi Bath... Had a nice relaxing jacuzzi!

I never turn on the jacuzzi and, in fact, I would never use a "public" (including hotel or condo building) hot tub. All kinds of things can grow when water is kept at that temperature and many bodies use the water to "relax."

Absolutely ! Relaxing in a hot bath is one of my favourite treats when travelling - since we don't have a bathtub at home. I actually wish more hotels had bathtubs, in Scandinavia it seems to be quite rare (space constraint and cost of hot water, maybe ?)

BTW did anyone initially think that this thread would be a rant about the hygiene of travelers, perhaps based on body odor in hotel elevators, lounges, restaurants, etc.?

I live in a very small apartment so I only have a small shower stall so I take every chance to take a bath when I can. I haven't had one in a year as I didn't have the time to take a bath/tub not very comfortable on my recent travels and it makes me sad as there's nothing like a nice relaxing bath with a book or an ebook in a ziploc.
