Similar story for me too only you can add in the beverage carts too. I've been woken up more than once by a beverage cart ramming into my shoulder (and have yet to get an apology). I also find the window seat is much less frequently pulled on by the person getting up behind me than when I was in an aisle seat

Yes, it is very strange that flight attendants NEVER apologize for this. Its almost like they are trained not to. Even very polite FAs won't acknowledge me when they whack my knee, elbow, head, or shoulder with the beverage cart.

That's because they warned you ;) ! "Mind the cart! Mind the cart!"

I'm a window seat guy. Not only do I look out but I take pictures.

My preference goes...

1. Bulkhead/Exit row aisle
2. Bulkhead/Exit row window
3. Any aisle
4. Bulkhead/Exit row middle
5. Any window
6. Resign myself to a middle seat

And on long-haul you don't have to do the magical gazelle hop if you have the aisle seat :p

Those men speak the truth !!

I generally try to get both a window AND an aisle.

CitizenWorld Jun 7, 2014 6:25 pm

In coach:
Window on short hops for the view, aisle always for longhauls. I like to stand up and stretch or use the bathroom every few hours and it's nice to be able to do it without disturbing the bloke next to me. You can also stretch into the aisle if really desperate as well.

In Premium Economy:
Only flew the QANTAS version but same as coach.

Business/First:
There's so much space that I don't care where in the cabin I'm seated. Window preference here for the view.

I used to be that way as well. But half an Ambien, combined with melatonin taken properly cross-ocean to avoid jet-lag on arrival, works wonders. Ambien is prescription-only , but if you are traveling overseas you should be able to get it from your doc. The great thing about it is that it is short enough acting, and doesn't severely interfere with REM sleep, so if you take it near the start of a trans-Atlantic journey, when you arrive at your destination it will have pretty much worn off and you won't be groggy.

Day flights: window for the view.
Night flights: window so I can rest against the side of the plane.

But then luckily I don't have a weak bladder!!

I prefer the aisle even on short haul flights.

I'm slightly claustrophobic and I like to know I can move around without disturbing anyone.

dinoscool3 Jun 15, 2014 1:14 pm

I prefer the window, but that means I often disturb my neighbor because I often have to go to the bathroom.

In short flights (less than 2~3hs), I prefer aisle, but I really don't care to seat even in a front middle.

For longer flights, I prefer to book an aisle.

No, we don’t NEED to, but we should. As the Mod wrote on that thread, comments were far off topic, and there’s no reason to start a new thread when there’s an existing thread on the exact subject (regardless of age).

Good to read that your back problems were corrected.

I absolutely prefer a window seat, and I do not agree that preference obligates me in any way to NOT get up whenever I want, presuming the frequency of my getting up is not exorbitant.

”Every few hours“ is not exorbitant. In fact, healthy adults with normal functioning kidneys should probably be getting up every few hours to use the facilities.

Window seat for me (especially on early morning flights and long-haul).

I don't need out to the bathroom every few minutes so I like having the window/wall to lean my head on to get a nap (and not have people disturbing me).
