During flights, how do you entertain yourself?

iPad

I use my laptop to watch downloaded television shows or movies (a Dell Latitude E6530, with the extended battery so I get about 8 hours of watch time on a charge). I use my phone (Galaxy S4) for music and crossword puzzles (free app I use is great, called Shortyz--downloads daily puzzles from USA Today, LA Times, Newsday, etc.).

Play with IFE, if available in the main cabin after assuming the confined postion in our seats - then find something that we haven't seen yet, LOL.

NC headsets with the iPad (mini) for her & Nexus 7 for me - netbook/laptop usually stayed off. Spare backup phone has tons of Mp3's available ....

this thread should probably be moved to the travel buzz section...

on every trip i'll take my nano and ipad. this will cover music, movies and nearly the the gamut of reading content - books, magazines, comic books. (i don't subscribe to newpapers on my tablet.) for longer duration trips i may take a laptop as well to allow me to update the content on my tablet along with the extras that having a laptop provides over a tablet.

i stopped carrying a spare paperbook book [as a backup] about 2 years ago.

Magazines I would never take the time to read in my normal life, iPad loaded with guilty pleasure shows.

Spoken word, but I am very particular with my listening habits. I also have some items which are guaranteed to put me to sleep within minutes, and others which are there to capture my attention for several hours. (It once took me over 100,000 miles of flying to finish an audiobook read by David Tennant as his voice is guaranteed to put me to sleep within five minutes, no matter how gripping the subject matter)

I have a large collection of BBC Radio 4 dramas, almost the entire collection of Arkangel Shakespeare dramatizations, and audio novels in various languages on hand to pass the time on trains or on planes. I rarely watch on trains as it makes me train-sick, but I do have a small selection of video (primarily in English, French, and German) which I tend to rewatch on planes.

I also have at least 2-3 books in various languages in my bag at any time. I actually only purchased an iPod a few years ago, long after they came onto the market.

Entertainment? Yes ipad, although I also do bring old-fashioned paperback books to read. Usually, it's the titles you want to read, but for whatever reason never felt you had the time to read while you were preoccupied with work, family or other personal matters.

I once spent an entire flight playing candy crush saga. That game is addictive! Usually I catch up on Shows from my TiVo loaded on my ipad. The TiVo Stream is a lifesaver

iPad or Kindle, if I can stay awake.
