5. People who stand at the exits of restrooms. What's up with that? When you leave the restroom, keep walking! Don't stand there, framed in the doorway, as if you're expecting accolades from the crowd.
To add my own points: - Terminals where you can't get anything decent to eat. My expectations are pretty low. Tiny sandwiches for some 10 euros a piece? No thanks. (Yes, ZRH, I'm talking about YOU.) - Anything and everything about CDG. Mostly the staff. ADP (the company operating the airport) has the most annoying employees in the world. They should all be tortured. |
Maybe it's flying experience , or all the survival/fire-training I did offshore, but I always clear a doorway by at least two bodies' worth of space, and usually step to one side as well, before stopping.
Sure, you need to figure out where you are etc, but get out of the mainstream first. Even taking a bus to work, I've noticed this: Peak hour, almost everybody pours off and keeps going Off-peak, people get off and come to a dead stop, causing a pile-up. The difference between people with a purpose and people with time to kill, I guess. |
Another terminal peeve:
People who get on a shuttle and *don't move on up the bus*. Terminal chuckle: The Ryanair passengers at Malaga who paid for "priority boarding" only to find that only got them on the bus first, whereupon they were crammed in and ended being last off. Not that I'd be happy if it happened to ME. |
Toilet paper that is so very shy it doesn't want to come off of the roll.
Toilets that appear to be understudies for Old Faithful. DEN, are you listening? |
I hate changing planes at DFW. There are so many carts driving lazy people around it's like you're trying to walk in the street with no traffic control other than the honking from the cart driver.
People who can't walk can get a wheelchair. Most people who ride those carts at DFW are just plain lazy. |
People who stop abruptly because they decided to turn around and walk the other way... with me right behind them!
Is it not common sense to do a U-turn instead, so you turn around in stride? |

Is it not common sense to do a U-turn instead, so you turn around in stride? Still, courtesy would suggest that they should be aware of their surroundings and step aside before turning around if there are people behind them. It would also suggest that you should not follow too closely behind in case they stop without checking... just as it does in traffic. |

Regarding terminal peeves ...
Carpet with thicker nap in the terminal walkways. Compared to pulling rollerbag on smooth vinyl-type flooring or low/flat nap carpet, is like pulling bag through mud. CLT comes to mind. |

Sometimes there is a distinct shortage of wheelchairs and "pushers". And if someone who needs mobility assistance has a lot of luggage, the pusher cannot handle a wheelchair plus all the luggage. And it makes a lot of sense to use a powered vehicle for very long distances. HOWEVER...the carts should be driven in a safe manner! Perhaps cart lanes would help. Or driving them no faster than an average person walks, so they are just part of the flow, not part of the problem.

That's a good idea. I say put in a governor of 2 MPH, and then walking passengers will not get run over (except the really slow ones :p).

Where would you put anything bigger than a coffee cart? There's no room. Terminal C was built in the 1980s, when there was nothing to stop meeters and greeters from going through security and dining airside.
