Best J Option - EZE-PEK-DXB-EZE
I´m putting together a trip (a 38-night Regent Seven Seas Cruise from Beijing to Dubai) for my parents on June 2014 and they want to do the full experience adding all J air travel.
My folks recently got back from LHR flying BA J and they were frankly dissapointed with the seats. My dad (who is 6´7" and 265 by the way) particularly complained about the seats being too narrow and hard and the cabin (2-4-2 on the 777) being overcrowded. As they will be paying for their tickets on their own buck, I´d like to get them the best J experience for their buck. I´ve been looking at some options (LH,EK, AC) but I´d like to hear recommendations from you seasoned J travelers on what would be the best J product on this route. Thanks PD: MOD, as this is not related directly to any airline in particular, I posteded it here in TripReports, altough it may not be correct. Please move if appropiate. Thanks. |
As this is not a trip report I shall move it over to TravelBuzz! Hopefully you will get some good advice there.

Most other C cabins (including the old CO Birds) had 2-2-2. Some (KLM comes to mind) has 2-3-2 worse case senario. Moral of the story, stay off of UA metal! |

After looking around and investigating several airlines and their routes (keep in mind this is EZE and options are limited) I´m thinking of booking J with QATAR over Emirates and Swiss. Mainly becasue:
1) 2-2-2 J config 2) Price ("only" 7k vs 10k Emirates and 12K Swiss) 3) Routing ("only" 28 hs to get there...) I´d like to hear your opinion on Qatar J vs. the other options... Thanks! |
If they found BA J hard to stomach then they will struggle with J on pretty much any other airline.

Well not really. But you'd need to look to mainly Asian carriers to beat it - the new CX J is more like BA F than J, but CX is not particularly helpful on that routing!

However I would probably recommend to the OP that the easiest route for his family to go would probably be EZE-DXB-PEK with EK. Even though I dont think EK J is superior to BA J. However SQ is the best for J but then again not useful for the routing. |
QR is probably the best bet. Their B777, which I believe they use both to EZE and PEK (at least today), is 2-2-2 across, fully flat, and pretty comfortable as you say. I don't think that anyone would be better on this route.
Another option is TK. If you can get their 777, it's comparable to QR; 2-3-2 across, though with the same seat width according to seatguru. Worth checking the price. |
EDIT:
Nevermind, I thought your folks were going with Regent's air package. |
