9 weeks started in St.Martin, Barbados, continuing onto Cyprus, Lebanon, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Cook Islands, Shanghai.

Have you been to Bangladesh before? I'm intrigued, but I once saw it referred to as "the only country with no hope" on FTalk, which makes it sound like a less than great vacation option.

Wow - I wish!

But can't complain too much: Hawaii, specifically Maui.

July: Long weekend in Lisbon
August: Annual return to the USA to visit Mom and Dad
September: Copenhagen, London then back home to Valencia for a week

Meh - I'm going nowhere. Still paying off some big trips from earlier this year (at least they're on a 0% interest card :cool:) If I'm lucky I'll take a day trip on Metro North to someplace in the Hudson Valley - I so have to get out of NYC for a bit it's not funny.

In the fall, though, I'm currently debating between Northern Ireland/Donegal and Uruguay. Or both if I'm feeling reckless with my money.

lol.. I fully expect that. Its only a 2 day stop - which I think will be enough of Dhaka. It cant be that much worse than India... right??

Currently in Sukhothai, Thailand and I'm about halfway through a five week trip through Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. I started in Bangkok, went to Kanchanaburi for a few days for WWII sights and then took the train up to Chiang Mai. Tomorrow I'm moving on to Ayutthaya for two nights and then I'm taking the night train to Koh Phangan for some beach bumming.

Following that I'll cross to border to Malaysia and spend a few days in Penang before moving on to Kuala Lumpur. Finally I'll wrap up my trip with a few days in Singapore :)

All this travel has been by train with a few buses thrown in. I flew here on a UA F award IAH-ORD-HKG (overnight)-BKK and I'm flying home SIN-DXB-DOH (overnight)-IAH in C on SQ and QR.

I'll be home for a month and then I'm heading to Mumbai for six weeks for work in early September.

If you're going to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, prepare to be underwhelmed.

For two days just about anywhere would be bearable I imagine. I think it COULD actually be quite a bit worse than India haha. I still want to go though...trip report?

Nope, not going to be anywhere near it. I won't even be on the island during that period. There's a beach resort on the other side of the island that a friend of mine loved and I'm going there on his recommendation.

Road trip to Cape Cod from the mid west. I'll stop and see some relatives on the way back.

Already been, a week in England and a week in Ireland. I loved them both, ready to go somewhere new next year though.

I went a few years back, and after 122 countries so far...it's definitely still in my bottom 10 for having any desire to return to. Especially Dhaka. Ug.

I found it 100x worse. I actually loved everywhere I went in India.

The disturbing part of Dhaka I found was many times more garbage/sewage everywhere, and the inability to walk out of my hotel without a dozen small local children grabbing on my legs and following me everywhere. It was poverty and misery on a scale I haven't encountered anywhere else.

I want to go to LON or YVR but I won't have any time.

I just knocked 2 quick trips to DPS and YDF. That'll likely be it for leisure travel for the foreseeable future. So, it's all standard biz travel for me: SJC, PHX, ORD, BNA, DFW, wash, rinse, repeat. :(

DEN - then driving to Telluride for a week, then Beaver Creek (Vail) for a few days before heading home. I am looking forward to seeing Colorado in the summer time.

Alaska for a couple weeks with the kids. A few other local jaunts through the summer.

Rest of the summer:
- Trip to Glacier for a week of camping
- Weekend trip to Montreal
- San Diego for a wedding and while there will hang out in LA for a few days as well
- Week on the Outer Banks, NC over Labor Day

Just returned from Santiago, Chile and a whirlwind < 24 hours in Easter Island (major flight delays). Heading to Mississippi in 2 weeks, trying to plan a trip to Tibet in September and a cruise out of Singapore in November.

Those are all the summer trips I have on the books at the moment. I'm sure some mundane domestic business trips will pop up. They always do.

Portland in August for a bachelor party, but unless you have a friend getting married soon, that is likely not applicable!

Extending to the end of September, I'm flying back to Munich for a 2nd go at Oktoberfest (first time was great). Then I plan to bum around Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands for a couple weeks.

Me and the wife will fly into FRA in Aug. From there we rent a car and drive to Berlin for 2 nights, then Prague for 2 nights, then Vienna for 2 nights, then Innsbruk,Austria for 1 night, then Mullhouse,Fr for 2 nights, then Luxemburg for 2 nights, then Amsterdam for 2 nights and back to FRA for 2 nights. We plan on visiting about 8-10 castles on the way. We like the car because it affords us the ability to divert off the path for last minute sights.

Please tell me about Santiago, will be my first time in Sept.

Leaving for Spain the last week of July. Madrid-Toledo-Cordoba and back to Madrid. We only have a week :( to experience that beautiful country but we'll make the best of it :D

It's a reasonably pleasant city, albeit bland compared to Buenos Aires and other major capitals. It's safe, has a great subway system (and a far less great bus system), is quite efficient for Latin America. The historic parts of the city are small - it was basically a colonial backwater, and the old buildings that did exist mostly got flattened in earthquakes. Lots of concrete high-rises and luxury condo buildings all over the central city.

Culturally, Chileans have a rep as the Germans of Latin America - unlike most of their neighbors, they're not terribly demonstrative and emotional in their demeanor. The people by and large are very friendly, though. Don't expect people to speak English - the richer people probably will to some extent, but it's nowhere near the norm.

Some of the more interesting neighborhoods to hang out in are Barrio Bellavista north of the river and Barrio Brasil farther west. Those are the areas known for funky nightlife. Providencia farther east also has nightlife options, but it's more for rich kids and foreigners.

Chilean food is kind of a disappointment, in my opinion. The one thing that's really good is seafood (particularly salmon), although it's less common in Santiago than, say, down south. They also do meat a lot (although I'd have to say not as well as in Argentina), and for some inexplicable reason their street/snack food of choice is a hot dog smothered with mayo, avocado, and god knows what else.

Just came back from Brussels and Madrid.

11 days at home, then headed to Sacramento for 6 days.

3 days at home, then off to the Virginia Beach area for a couple weeks.

4 days at home headed to Buffalo and Niagara Falls for 6 days.

6 days at home, then headed to Germany for 2 weeks.

2 days at home, then headed to South Korea for 2 weeks.

Flying ORD-HKG-BKK next week, then BKK-SYD for a week, then returning SYD-ORD, all in first class.

Home until August 10 when I fly ORD-LGA for a 5-day visit.

End of August is ORD-HNL for a week.

bloody summer.. all the students are on break so it is the peak in my business travel (my job is to service science) Last week was TLS (ok that was nice...) now YYZ, next week AUS.. I get a few weeks off then TUL (actually Ponca City OK.. ) and then Fort Collins (into DEN)

At least I am avoiding DCA for now.. (until another review in October)

So what your saying is when you go home people say "I didn't know you were coming for a visit".

I just tell people that coming home is just a stopover and a chance to do laundry, repack and check the mail. :)

ALB-ORD-CPH later this month, my first business cabin flight that I actually paid out of my own pocket for (Z on SK). Was only about 50% more than the Economy fare at the time I booked it. From Copenhagen we're on the Emerald Princess for 11 days.

In September we do ORD-NRT-BKK-DPS for a dive trip at Wakatobi with 3 days in Bangkok on the way. Award flight on UA,TG,TG,TG,TG,NH, business class.

Our first flights on SK, TG, and NH.
