Nearly empty flights
While waiting for a flight at LAX on Sunday night I noticed the flight for Denver that showed only 14 people checked in for the flight within an hour of flight time. Board showed 224 seats available and 31 available for upgrade. This was flight 218 which I couldn't find in the United timetables?
What are the fewest passengers (# and %) that people have seen on a flight? Also first try at inserting images, so hopefully this works... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/img70131.jpg |

There was a flight a few years back LHR-??? (some EU destination... maybe GVA, BRU, ZRH... or something like that) That had several of the runs get everyone in F/C because of the light loads.

The Friday when all the US airports opened up after 9/11. Flying LAX-HKG...we had 2 in F, I think 5 in C and 50 or so in Y on a 747.....

Once flew on the Qantas service from LAX to JFK. About thirty people on board a 747. It was the day before Thanksgiving.
|
I flew MAN-Dubai a couple days after Bush bombed Iraq.
Emirates 777 with around 16 pax IIRC. I recall the Captain suggesting we sit back relax and enjoy the 1:1 ratio of Crew to Pax ;) |
I have been the only one on a plane... and this was the day before Thanksgiving, no less...

What plane? If it was a small plane, it would make sense/not that surprising, quite a treat if it was like a 737 though! |
Amazes me still to no end boarding an empty plane..
You would think with the airline marketing machines.. that they could make money somehow with the empty seats.. even though the planes need to go to another destination as a result of flight scheduling.. |

Has happened to me twice in the past year. Once flying MSP-HND about 4 days after the earthquake, maybe 50 people on a 747. Then a couple months later on delta's inagural BOS-LHR run, both ways were about 30 people on the whole plane.

ZERO PASSENGERS!
Oh wait, that was just a ferry flight for me. :D AD |
I was the only one on the plane from FAT to VIS (Fresno to Visalia, CA) a few years ago on a United Express EMB-120 turboprop. Great in-flight service! ^
