I'm a bath tub girl - I need a soak to losen up my back each morning. That said, I will often clean the bath tub first - and will ALWAYS clean out a jetted tub before using it! I've been known to take bleach with me for such a purpose!

One of my worst stays was made so by no viable bath - it was in Ireland and the water was from peat bogs, and it was muddy brown - despite being told it was perfectly fine, I just couldn't sit in brown water - and the hotel had no pool or hot tub to soak in.

Shampoo/conditioner/lotion bottles that are too rigid to squeeze. You just have to wait for the product to slowly flow out.

Wow.. why go to a hotel to soak?.. sounds like its more convenient to stay at home..

Having said that.. I've heard of black gunk coming out of the jets in a hotel before..

I forgot about this one. I also hate shampoo bottles that have difficult to open caps when you are in the shower with wet hands.

This thread has turned from a general call out for the trends that hotels do bad on the whole, to small nit-picky things that don't really effect anyone else instead of the poster lol.

It's interesting reading though. It's like people watching, you see people's little quirks :)

Indeed!! :) Our issues with hotels are sometimes a bit more personal than our issues with airlines...they involve our baths, showers, bedtime routines, etc. @:-)

I soak every morning, no matter where I am! Have to have my bubble bath to start the day!

Generally, the only tubs our family gets into is the shower unless bathing the infant.. in which our one year old will be a rubber ducky boat from Walmart..:cool:

You can always use the 'do not disturb' tags outside the door.

one thing i've always felt hotels do poorly is pillows. what is the obsession with down or pseudo-down pillows that are big and puffy, but collapse into paper when you put your head on them?

i liked that pillow menu that someone posted about upthread. reminds me of a friend who visited thailand and ordered from their pillow menu. it wasn't so much that he had over 40 to choose from, but that the attendants delivering them were required to bow when they delivered them. he tried bowing back, and they kept bowing lower, so eventually he just lay down on the floor - and they did too. there must have been an end to this story but he may have omitted it.

Except in hotels where despite the DND tags, housekeeping will still access your room in the day for clean-up - just later in the day. Happened to me in Europe - I was quite peeved. Sometimes for very short stays I'd rather not have anyone come in.

Providing non-feather alternatives. I've had to fight tooth and nail to get non-feather pillows, blankets, etc., as feathers will leave me looking and feeling like I've had a headcold for a week in the morning.

I've resorted to blasting myself with antihistamines at some hotels and hoping for the best. Not pleasant when paying $200+ a night for a room.

my wife prefers having foam pillows.. and its a chore if we arrive in a room that hasn't been set up already..
