We pay for international F. Sometimes, at least. And we're not super rich.
Just come back from a LHR-HKG-AKL-BHE/WLG-AKL-HKG-LHR trip with the segments to/from NZ in CX F. Tickets were paid for, but were discounted A fares rather than full F price. Reason for buying F was a combination of product and routing: I'm tall enough to need a decent length (6ft6) flat bed for sleeping, and the best combo of product and route is CX F (VS J would need us to go via SYD, ditto BA/QF, SQ J is too short, CX J is too narrow etc.) On the Asian carriers there is still decent differentiation between F and J, of course. My rationale is that the holiday begins when the CX chauffeur car comes to pick us up from home, not from when we managed to stop staggering around after 27 hours of flying in the back of the bus. Yes, we're privileged to be able to afford F once in a while (only for the antipodes) but it makes a huge difference when beginning your holiday. The rest of the time you'll find us in F and J, but pretty much always on miles. BC |

This is true.. and those who were rich, like Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson, and Nicolas Cage, tried to keep up with the Movie Star Joneses, and where did they end up?.. Owing more than what they're worth and going bankrupt. Rich don't stay rich by being stupid.. There was a study done "Mind of a Millionaire" that found that the rich prefer a burger and a beer, to caviar and cabernet. The rich is more likely to bargain for the best deal when buying a car, then say a regular consumer. Penny saved is a penny earned.
I have a friend who is married to someone incredibly wealthy. He is OTT with his purchases, frivolous IMO, but he gets richer every year. I guess if you hire the best financial advisors, you can be silly with your money, and still make more! |
