Airport Observation Decks

Does anyone know if the observation deck has reopened at FRA? Also now that you can no longer get on top of the Queens Bldg terminal 2 at Heathrow, is there any other decent place to see the action.

Thanks and stay safe!

Welcome to Flyer Talk posting.

Just FYI, you can use the Report Bad Post feature to request changes or modifications to your own post by by a moderator. It is the red triangle near the lower left corner under your name. I have made the request for you this time.

I don't have an answer for your original question. :)

Post here if you know about observations decks at airports

This thread should continue with the subject observing the title. Post here if you know of airport observations decks.

I know that at one time, Gatwick South had one.

Also post if you know of alternatives, such as a parking garage.

There is a public viewing area at FUK's domestic terminal (not sure if Int'l has one). Its not airside, so you can take the metro to the airport and spend a few hours there even if you are not flying out (exactly what I did). There is an open area, as well as a enclosed air-conditioned/heated area. It has vending machines for food and drink as well as some view finders.

It overlooks the runway, and being Japan there are always wide-bodies going and coming.

The parking garage at Terminal 4 in PHX is always good for plane watching.

I haven't used it in a while, but MSP has a decent observation deck and they usually keeps the lights off up there so it's good viewing at night.

After a decades-long absence, YVR has reopened an observation deck:

Although I would not call it an observation deck, there is a great spotting area right off Lee Rd at IAH. Almost feels like you could reach out and touch the planes as they land. Early afternoon is the best time on a nice day to catch the transatlantic heavies arriving.

USA Today ran a story on this subject in August.

Last time I was at the international terminal at Sydney, you could go outside and watch the action. They also let you drink out there and there is a BBQ and gardena area.

schiphol has a big observation deck, met a guy when I was there who was spending his whole day there watching the planes!

I know Tokyo Haneda and Dusseldorf have them...anyone know of any others. The USA Today article seems to be mostly domestic airports...looking for more interesting international airports.
