Carrying wireless JBL, Electronics, Bath stuff,

Background:
1) Domestic flight: Carried Garmin GPS with traffic alert in carry on.
On return, I realized that the GPS mini-B plug metal tip was bent that it can not be no longer inserted into the GPS.
2) JBL - i found that the it was turned on keeping it in my back pack - lost charge while watching a movie. JBL didn't come with a case.
3) We carried bath stuff in a see through bag. Hotels no longer gives shaving stuff etc. I guess TSA is not that keen on see through bags anymore.

I am looking for tools to carry these items without making it bulky - I have a bag that contains all bath stuff - maybe I need a smaller one!
Is there a protector for the charging cable tips?
Any other ideas?

I put all my charging cables in one of the amenity bags I received from a business class flight. But really any smallish pouch like bag can work.
