I have (or had) no idea what in the world a "Founders Card" was, so I looked up a review of it on line.

My take away: It is not a credit card, but a discount card. Chase is willing to give me the first year ($595 + but reading between the lines, it may cost less).
Many of the benefits are duplicated by my Amex Plat card and my other credit cards (Hilton) or by my lifetime status in programs. Furthermore, with Covid basically eliminating my international travel for the foreseeable future, why have a card whose benefits are limited? But that is why we have FT

I could just take the deal. The problem is that renewal is $395/year and I have no idea what type of hoops I would have to jump through to cancel the program (maybe none).

I am looking to see if anyone has experience with this non-credit card card and opinions. The reviewer did a good job of hashing out the pluses and minuses, but other travelers opinions would be most useful

BTW: to mods, if I put this in the wrong forum, please feel free to move. I was thinking about Chase, but that was specific to Chase cards, and this seems to be for all credit cards and isn't a credit card anyway

I don’t have Founderscard, although I did somehow end up with a membership to a similar program called Select card- I was going to sign up for founderscard got priced at 395 a year, and found some of the benefits to be useful figured I would run for a year and see if it’s worth it. I’m currently doing that on Select And then will see if I stay, switch, or cancel- I would love to hear reviews from FTers that have utilized one or the other if not both on the pros And cons

if they still have offers related to airline/hotel status, take a look, and see if those statuses could then get status matches to others you might value more

The Select Card does not. Although the Founderscard program does, it’s hard to justify memberships in both. They also usually require flights taken within x months to hold status, but not always though. They’re interesting rewards programs And I find it interesting not there aren’t any discussions about it on FT
