Yeah, AppintheAir is pretty for sure.
I still find the app missing some bit. Oddly, they don't support Air Canada's loyalty program in their app and have no firm plans soon to do so. While not a deal breaker, it's strange that they wouldn't support the flag carrier for a country but support smaller players. |

Are your referring to a lack of features or primarily the lack of a major NA carrier?
As others have noted on the Travel Tools thread, there's some missing / incomplete features. But AC is also missing as a carrier under their loyalty programs. |

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but it sounds as though the loss of FlightTrack has given many of you an unwelcome headache, as it has done to me. Based on many of the earlier comments in this thread, I've narrowed down the choice of replacement to either The Flight Tracker or FlightView.
At the moment I've downloaded the free versions of both apps and am leaning towards Flight Tracker, based on the user interface. Both apps have a straightforward method of adding new flights and creating trips, so neither has an advantage here. I'll leave feedback on push-notifications etc to those who have been trialling the apps for longer, as at the moment I haven't used these at an airport yet. The Flight Tracker: Attachment 30129 FlightView also has a reasonable UI, but it's a bit plain in comparison. I'm sure some people would prefer this approach though. FlightView: Attachment 30130 One significant frustration (that was also the case with FlightTrack) is that I can't add non-commercial or charter flights. I understand that these flights won't appear in search results, but the ability to add these flights manually would be a great help to me. Does anyone know of an app that could help me out with this? |

After arriving at my destination and connecting to a WiFi network, only 'The Flight Tracker' provided a notification of the delayed arrival time; although to be honest I'm not too bothered about post-flight information. I'll leave the apps installed to see how things go on the return journey, but based on my (admittedly limited) experience today, neither is up to the job of replacing FlightTrack. |
I wanted to let everyone know that my FlightTrack Pro is still working for keeping track of my flights. Some of the additional functionality (like alternative flights) stopped working, though. The Widgets work fine too.
I'm using FlightTrack Pro in conjunction with Tripit. I'm using an Android phone, and I'm using older versions of both apps: FlightTrack Pro v 4.5.1 TripIt v 3.10.1 So.. If you've got access to older versions of the apps for Android, you may be in luck. :D |
This is very frustrating - I'm very late to this party!
I paid for FlightTrack Pro on both iOS and on Android (when I switched). I didn't "upgrade" to FlightTrack 5 because the TripIt integration is simply unbeatable for me. Anyone who uses Concur for corporate travel, or has email integration turned on will understand. All I had to do was book a flight and bam, it's on my phone being tracked months in advance. I signed up for a free 7-day trial of FlightRadar24 Silver, and was disappointed to find that you can only set an alert for a flight a few days in advance (much like Kayak Pro). I also wasn't impressed to find that despite being supported across multiple platforms, if you create an alert on the web it comes in via email vs. push if you create it on a mobile app. Anyhow - I notice a lot of you are iOS users. Android users who can't live without TripIt - what did you decide on? EDIT: App in the Air does look nice - but the subscription breakdown isn't very clear. Lifetime subscription is $49.99 in the Android App (US). |

Weird that it works for you, my 4.5.2 stopped working at the time of the announcement while 5.x still worked. Both are FlightTrack Pro. I just tried adding my April 26, 2017 AA flight and it said error.
I extracted my APK's in case you (or anyone else) wants to give it a shot with these versions. FlightTrackPro v4.5.1 TripIt v3.10.1 |
Mobiata Replacement
Hello,
I think that I am a latecomer to this topic of conversation, so please forgive the new post. It was with much disappointment in February that I learned about the Mobiata's discontinuation of FlightTrack and FlightTrack Pro, the latter of which I had. I thought at the same time that it was not such a big deal as I had been meaning to find a similar app, thinking that they were in abundance. I was wrong, simply put. Compared with everything else that I have since seen, FlightTrack was a simple yet very good app that was user friendly and was quite comprehensive in its information. I would thus like to know what the general consensus is on a suitable replacement for FlightTracker Pro. (I have tried the free versions of FlightView and Flight Tracker, but even FlightTrack had a better free version.) Also, why exactly did Mobiata stop supporting FlightTrack? Is there any possibility that they could reactivate the app, preferably sooner than later? Thanks in advance. :D |

I'm adding AA flights via TripIt, and they're showing up fine in FlightTrack Pro. I flew AA 2 weeks ago (6 flights) and all of those flights showed up too.

I don't use TripIt but usually enter the flights manually since it's just to track the flight. I'll give it a shot when I get a chance. Thanks!

I have rushed and got the paid version of AppintheAir, two days ago. Not impressed at all.
As many have already said, this app has A LOT of features that just clutter the screen, without being useful. The alerts system is very cumbersome (at least to me). One cannot segregate flights into different trips: the app only lists all flights chronologically. A VERY annoying thing is that the app has a popup message that pushes you to review the app in the app store. This message pops us regularly (every few minutes or so) and it cannot be fully dismissed unless you actually review the app! This app was probably the LEAST useful thing I have ever bought for $50. I cannot believe there really is no app (even a paid one!) out there that comes close to FlightTrack! I wish a bunch of smart kids looked into building such an app (but only after seeking input/advice from potential users, who can say what SHOULD and what SHOULD NOT be in included in an app like this). I guess this would even be a good candidate for crowdfunding? I would gladly contribute and I am sure others would too. |
A pleasant surprise...

I've been a loyal Kayak user for searching for flights and, after getting the flight confirmation from an airline (or hotel). forwarding the info to Kayak which then automatically creates an entry in my calendar. While at airports, I get gate change and delay notifications typically faster from Kayak then even some of the airline apps. Like others here, I miss Flight Track Pro. I purchased and have been using FlightView for the past few months. It's OK and also has the option to receive confirmation notices so that it fills in the itinerary automatically (unlike Flight Track that required you to manually add flights). I found the FV widget annoying in that it only indicated that a flight was scheduled instead of actually displaying the time (Note: I see in one of the posts above that it does show the times. Don't why it doesn't for me). The other day, however, I paid more attention to the Kayak widget and noticed that it showed me the flights as well as the times (see screenshot. It shows the two widgets with FV sitting above the Kayak one)! Furthermore, when I followed the link back to the Kayak app, I was presented with a neat and clean graphic detailing both legs of my trip with the anticipated layover times (see other screenshot). Further investigation showed detailed terminal maps--down to the individual restaurant and shop level, weather info, ticket details, booking info, and even the link back to the email containing the confirmation info.
Long story short--I think I've found my Flight Track replacement! And it's even free! (I curious about Flight Update Pro but it has some stiff competition at this point) |
