Good tool/app to keep track of flights?

I fly 60% BA but 40% other OW and other airlines and as I have always >10 future bookings would like an app that shows in clear manner all my bookings and, ideally, keeps a log after the flights done, but that is secondary.

I am currently using FlightTrack Pro on iPhone/iPad to remember myself what flights I have booked, but obviously you cannot even log reservation number, so I just check those in emails or BA.com etc.

I tried Tripit but it does not pick up all my bookings that I send, and do not think very clear lay-out. I tried checkmytrip but it does not show more than 3 future bookings and also not very clearly.

Is there app you can log your bookings, clearly visible, and ideally shows them off-line as well?

Edit: on BA.com you can see other non OW booking details as well, would be good if they would remember them and then BA.com would be my source for all my bookings. Yes some would be on non-OW but that way would give them great insight in frequent traveller patterns!

I use Check My Trip on Android and I've got my next 5 flights PNR's list in there. I think it's fairly clear on the Android as well as I see who is on the PNR with me, all our FF numbers, the departure terminal, aircraft type, flight duration, seat number if applicable, booking class and ticket number. I can see these off line as well. Also there are links to weather info at your destinaton.

So, maybe ditch the rotten apple eco system and head over to Android! :D

MyFlights is good, and notifies you of changes / delays, but is only fully automated with Amadeus bookings. In particular, you have to enter AA details manually. But if most of your flights are with BA (or through BA) it's a breeze

I'm pretty happy with awardwallet. It tracks my flight and hotel bookings pretty accurately and automatically as long as you are a FF member of the airline you are flying with. It also tracks all your points and miles across reward schemes very well.

Awardwallet seems to have great trouble pulling bookings from airline sites, and the iphone app has only very minimal functionality (i.e., no booking info at all), IMO

Fair point about the iPhone app actually. I mainly use it on my iPad as a website so had forgotten about the app not having bookings. Not had the airline bookings problem, although I am almost exclusively BA and Air China at the moment.

Apologies to the OP for what, in hindsight, is not a great suggestion.

Afraid the investment in Apple is made with too many devices already! Will play a bit more with checkmytrip web version on ipad and see what that gives and whether I can get 5 trips on iphone to work!

Looking at myflights, I believe they don't synch between iphone and ipad yet? Flighttrack supposedly does but gives errors for me. Does myflight keep log of flights once flown? Probably will give this a go as well.

Thanks!

Myflights does keep a log of flights once flown and flights can be entered retrospectively. The app is perfect for inducing moments of sheer uncensored nostalgia.

I use Flight Update Pro on the iPhone - it keeps all the info and is very easy to use. It synchronises flights your iPhone Calendar.

If you want an app that holds all travel plans (hotels, activities, flights, transport etc) Travel Track Pro is very good.

Both Apps alert you to gate changes, delays etc in real time.

Does it grab info from Amadeus bookings - and can it handle the AA system too?

There are a lot of apps out there that are so close to being ideal - but none that hits the spot.

Am I greedy in wanting an app that downloads all info from a booking ref, tracks changes to flights, links through to seatguru maps and can handle hotel reservations and loyalty points too?!

Thanks, entering some upcoming flights now and looks ok. Retrospective though is all manual, i mean it doesnt even know all flights say LHR-JFK on a given day so you pick the right one. Basically impossible and even if you would enter it then there is no info about actual flight timing. But moving forward maybe ok app.

I don't know of any service that can automagically pull details of past flights. I guess the number of people who want such data is pretty small - though perhaps not in this thread :)

Sure, I mean in Flighttrack you can say eg Feb 1 2012 LHR-JFK and then it will show all flights and you pick the one you took. So yes it will automatically pull data up to 1 year ago. If you wanted to add flights to Myflights you need to say Feb 1 2012 LHR-JFK BA 09:00-13:00 etc etc so it becomes truly impossible to add this. It is not key for me but if was easy to add or import then yes I am probalby part of small group that would want log of all flights past and future!

For now though seems for future flights all apps are not great, think I might stick to Flighttrack!

The way Flight Update Pro works is by either manual entry or quasi-automatic by setting up a free Tripit account. Each time you make a reservation you can either forward the confirmation email to Tripit or set Tripit up to automatically import email. Once you open the App it automatically imports the Tripit data (which can be used off-line and puts your flights directly in to the iPhone Calendar which in turn synchronises with Outlook or whatever calendar you have on your PC/Mac.

Travel Track Pro can handle all this ... and it gets its info in exactly the same way as Flight Update Pro (they are from the same software company).

I use both, although you would easily manage with just Travel Track Pro.

With the amount of travel I do I find both extremely useful and very much a time saver.
