UsingMiles.com

Just wanted to share a new website find:

https://www.usingmiles.com/

I haven't tested it out much but it looks promising.

cordelli Jul 27, 2010 9:16 am

They have been around for a while, but under a different name.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...ch-awards.html

Though there's not much useful info in that thread other then the date it was written.

jw713 Sep 8, 2010 11:36 pm

Just got an e-mail today that I've been selected to use the service. Registered a few of my programs and it pulled in all the account info. So far, so good. I think it's a great idea and looking forward to checking it out further.

KyRoamer Oct 6, 2010 2:55 pm

If you want an invite, PM your email address to me. If you sign up, nothing of value is given to me.

Or try this site:

UsingMiles.com

Seems like a useful site. It tracks miles and hotel points (credit cards soon) and has a booking engine. My one try got some good prices. It also MAY (I did not check this out) check award availability.

It is invitation only. If you want and invite, PM me your email address.

There is a thread on this in travel technology (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...l#post14899233) but I doubt that many will see it there.

I have no interest in the site and get nothing from referrals. I am not endorsing it beyond saying looks interesting.

1worldtrader Oct 7, 2010 1:32 pm

Seems intriguing, but I don't know that I would be comfortable giving them my user name and password to my loyalty/FF programs. For those who store CC details in their FF accounts (I don't), I cannot imagine that they would want to disclose their login information.

KyRoamer Oct 8, 2010 12:58 pm

Not impressed with booking engine's approach to award availability. Basically it just shows possibilities and when selected dumps you in plan's web site.

Has anyone else used it and had a better experience?

KyRoamer Oct 11, 2010 5:27 pm

Understood. Recent testing left me convinced that it can track miles but I am not as sure about its other functions.

randy

There's only one frequent flyer technology I trust to manage my 17 million miles -- UsingMiles.com
-- Randy Petersen, Founder of FlyerTalk

btw. randy is a testimonial, i would guess that randy did invest in that company :) or why would he act as a testimonial.

if i knew flyertalk is involved, i would be more comfortable in storing some of my not so important accounts there.

Lifehacker did a post on this website yesterday.

CPRich Nov 5, 2010 11:03 am

These sites are popping up like flies - awardwallet, yodlee, gomiles, accruw, tripit, usingmiles - sounds ripe for a comparison.

If someone can PM an invite, I may try to write something up - I think I've joined the others out of curiosity.

Did you do a write-up/review of these sites? Or is there a thread elsewhere on FT or even an external review?

I've been interested in service like this but been wary of trusting them enough to give my account information.

spangenberg Dec 1, 2010 12:55 pm

I actually like the site, i tried award wallet, and various others, but I actually like the interface that usingmiles offers. Not for booking, but keeping track of the various progrsms. I only recently noticed that there was a testimonal from randy!

mad1 Dec 6, 2010 4:11 am

How does this compare with ANX, KVS, EF, etc?

I started putting my confidential information in the sight and it just didn't feel right. I sent an email to [email protected] and my email bounced back. How do you really know where your information maybe going?

CPRich Dec 15, 2010 9:31 pm

I finally got time to start using it, after playing with AwardWallet and GoMiles for a while, and I'm unimpressed so far. My initial session of trying to load the 20 programs available (I have 28 in AW) yielded an hour of frustration, 8 programs loaded multiple times, and two hung browsers. Some more work tonight to get all 20 in and 8 say "Hold tight, this program will be available soon!". And one of the "hold tight, coming soon" is Midwest Miles, which no longer exists.

It also tells me that I'm somehow CP status on USAir with 509 miles. (hint - several digits are missing). I'll see how their support is - I emailed GoMiles with a glitch not long ago and it was fixed in a matter of hours. First I need to figure out how to report the glitch - it's listed as a Beta product but there's no obvious "report a bug" feature (maybe I'm spoiled by the Firefox 4 beta reporting features I've been using)

I've yet to play with the Alerts for Find Flights functions, but so far it's way behind AW and GM as an award program tracking tool.

EDIT: I just noticed two of the hotel programs are also missing multiple digits, so it has 9 programs correct, and 3 of those are zero balance that may or may not actually be right.

mht_flyer Jan 5, 2011 3:29 pm

Just got a invite to start using this a few weeks back and decided to join.

Very nice interface, I'm not sure I'll use it to make any bookings, but I like the program view at-a-glance for all my FF memberships. Nice tool.

Homer15 Jan 5, 2012 1:27 pm

Does anyone have more recent experience with this tool?

I am particularly interested in using it for award travel searching (so I wondering things like do the search function, and the booking link, work well? can it search multiple dates? will it do automated searching with email notification?).

They are asking for $30 for a yearly subscription, which isn't going to break the bank, but also isn't cheap for a product they describe as still being in beta, so any additional info. on whether people have found it reliable and useful would be appreciated.

German Expat Apr 12, 2012 4:09 pm

Didn't see any more recent information. Anybody did give it a shot and was it useful ?

Please enjoy a free Premier subscription on us! This will save you from spending the $29.99.

Anyone see any advantages of this over Award Wallet? I added a few accounts and it worked about the same, but the interface isn't as nice.

The link doesn't seem to work. Was this a time-sensitive offer?

divergirl Sep 13, 2012 1:08 pm

Be wary of UsingMiles, I don't know if I'd trust a website with a founder that plead guilty to fraud.
http://www.dailycamera.com/boulder-c...ws/ci_18203847

I signed up for a free account but no American and Southwest is a manually entry, my two primary airlines. (Incidentally, their website said that they support both.)

SiberianTiger Nov 20, 2012 11:49 am

any more info on this tool? Comparing to others, how is it? Good? Bad?

loomis Feb 7, 2013 10:01 am

Same offer via eBags

I just received the same, free lifetime Premier membership offer after a recent purchase from eBags.

soarer Feb 8, 2013 1:10 pm

I just signed up on the first link ,

probably will not use it that much , but its good to have and FREE

thanks for posting it

loomis Feb 9, 2013 9:51 am

Can't add an AA account!!

I signed up, using my eBags link. It is nice and tidy to see (almost all of) my balances in one place.

I am disappointed to see that I could not add my AA account. There is not even an option to add it manually.

ttervooren Mar 25, 2013 7:05 am

I signed up through FrequentMiler's free lifetime Premier membership. In case anyone else is doing this also, I could not get my Ink Bold and Sapphire cards to load. I emailed them and got this quick response back:

From: Keith
Subject: Chase ink bold and sapphire preferred not connecting

Hello Toni,

The problem is on our end. We’ve been having trouble with the Chase accounts for a while now. I would suggest manually tracking your Chase card until we have a fix. I will alert you when it’s back up and running automatically.

Sorry for the troubles.

Thanks,
Keith

FREE PREMIUM UsingMiles Account FOR LIFE

Thanks VeryGoodPoints!

http://first2board.com/verygoodpoint...free-for-life/

Has a $29.99 annual cost.... now free for life. Just click!

AsiaTraveler Apr 26, 2013 3:44 pm

Unfortunately doesn't track American Airlines miles, so it's half as useful to me as it should be.

You're welcome! I'm glad UsingMiles was happy to give them away!

MaxLovesRio May 14, 2013 12:10 pm

Thanks for sharing the information.

Unfortunately, I just tried setting this up and it doesn't seem to know when miles expire. For my USAirways account, it is showing that my miles expired last November and I don't see a way to correct that because it logs into my account at USAirways and retrieves the info.

For my United account, I had to enter all the information manually. Fortunately, I could retrieve the information from my AwardWallet account which seems to know everything and is correct.

I think I'll stick with AwardWallet unless I'm missing something.

jonu Nov 11, 2014 6:32 pm

Well, United no longer works here. At some point, when United pulled out of Award Wallet, this was their "official partner." No more.

phiota Feb 21, 2016 7:21 am

Any new feedback on using UsingMiles.com website/program?

y1XU3arbii Jan 20, 2017 11:30 pm

Is anybody using this?
