ATT-International Tech Support
So here I am in a small town in France and my cell phone (Lazr) decides to stop registering to a local network.
I have now called ATT international tech support a number of times, been asked the same stupid questions, turned the phone of and back on at least 4 times-no go. I do have an Orange cell that works and ATT has told me that SFR and Orange should be accessible. Theoretically, I should hear from their tech support team-as opposed to the incompetents who answer at first. My question: have you travellers had the same experience with ATT and if so who would you recommend? I reside in the USA but travel to Europe and China. |
This is why I use a local sim card. I never had any trouble with a local sim card, and an unlocked phone.
|
Not only AT&T, similar experiences with Sprint International Roaming SIMs.

I have actually have had quite good experience using ATT when traveling abroad. I usually pick up a SIM card as a back up, depending on how long I am spending traveling, and of course try to keep my usage to a minimum, though for the most part I have never had any problems just turning on my phone and letting it do its work to register with the foreign carrier.
|
So you were able to automatically register on one of the networks before, and it stopped working all of a suden? Try to do a manual network search/selection.
I have never had any problems roaming with my AT&T mobile. |
The ATT phone mysteriously logged on to the Orange network, once I got near to Lyon.
Note that Orange was available in the other parts of France that I was in. I can only conclude that either ATT tech support fixed a newtwork problem or that for some reason ATT will only work with Orange in some areas (Bytel and SFR also show up as available networks). FYI: tech support said that manual network selection is not available on this model lazr-not what the network setting screen shows. |
