I made the transition fairly easily from Palm OS to BB about a year ago. I've got a 7520 and can't live without it. As has been stated - email is where it shines, and I have almost all of my work and personal email forwarded to it through the Blackberry Internet Service that Nextel offers. I sync my calendar through the desktop app as I don't have access to a company BES.
The phone isn't the greatest, but I usually use a headset as I can't get used to talking into a brick. A few wishes: make it a little lighter, add voice recognition. And the ring tones available suck GPG |
I've been a palm user for a long time, until an accident happened and the screen of my Treo 600 died (palm wanted 180€ to replace the screen). I was looking into a Nokia E-61, a Treo 650 or a BB 7100
I decided to get the BB7100 ( free of charge, thanks to Movistar :D ) and I am quite happy with it. e-mail and a QWERTY phone were my priority, I didn't need any other app :p |

Sigh
Reading this thread reminds me of how sad it is that the Pocket PC is, so far, so badly executed. Much superior in concept to both the BB and the Treo, but so poorly made that it cannot be relied upon. Another sigh. I miss my Rex 6000. |

I'm surfing via my Treo right now, bypassing Marriott's crazy $12.95 internet service, cruising at about 500kpbs. Maybe I'll turn on Pocket Tunes, listen to some mp3's and take pictures of the Statue of Liberty out my window. Or maybe even a movie.... |
Never tried Blackbery. I'm currently using the Treo 680 :p and I'm liking it quite a bit...
Bluetooth, MP3, camera, GSM-EDGE, quad-band, modem on tethered mode, web, email, IM, personalized MP3 ring tones, GPS with BT receiver... |

We are locked into Exchange and arent adding anything on that like BES. So in that environment, I think that nothing can touch the PPC platform, and the 700w is well enough executed. Not perfect but incredibly functional. Im in the UK now and using my BB a lot. I have the desktop redirector and it lets me easily review and respond to most emails, as well as to know when I need to get the laptop out to get online for an attachment or whatever. So it is quite functional, but not as much so as the Treo 700w in the US. I need a Treo with GSM and PPC. Coming soon I suppose. |
