Thank you!
I looked at the "black box" again and the output is listed as 16V and 3.75 A. So then this is 60 watts? (The input is 125V and 1.4A which can't be the correct number to look at since this is way too high.) |
Excuse me if the answers to my questions have been posted earlier; I got a little confused reading through all the posts! I'm travelling on AA in first class shortly and would like to run my NEC Versa P8210 laptop with their power sources on board. Can anyone tell me what my options are for an adaptor that will work with AA and, if possible, also BA? (I am in Australia so obviously I have an Australian power plug, if that's relevant.)

Tumi Ultraslim Power Supply
I finally got the Tumi adapter. $85 on ebay! What a bargain! This thing is fantastic! It uses the same tips as the Kensington adaptor, but is much nicer IMHO. It comes with retractable cords, air & car adapters, and many tips, including the new Dell N19. The carrying case is very nice and compact.
I highly recommend this adapter. It's a steep $195 retail, but maybe you can get lucky on ebay like I did. |
Which iGo?
It seems as though that 3 iGo adapters (Juice, Everywhere 85 and Everywhere 130) will work with my Sony Vaio VGN-TX670 P/B and iPod
Thing is even after reading the product blurbs at the co website, I still can't figure how to choose the right one for my needs? I will be traveling next on United 744 and also be using the adapter in NZ. After that I will probably use it most on UA 752 ps flights. I'd also consider a Kensington but can't seem to find the info on compatibility w/my Vaio TX TIA |
Singapore Airlines
Does Singapore Airlines have real power outlets in 747 economy class?

Stick with iGO (search for my posts of woes with Targus). Pick the most compact of the iGOs one you can. I ended up with the Everywhere 130 only because it was the only one iGO's webstie had a plug immediately available for my IBM T42, but I'd be much happier with a smaller adapter.
i ordered the iGO Juice along w/ the APC Universal Plug (btw, turns out that Kensingtons don't have tips for my VAIO) Hopefully it'll arrive soon as my battery just died and i can't get it refilled/replaced before my trip to NZ. :( it's always something, eh? |
i did a search for "kensington adaptors" on ebay and found a bunch of refurbished 120w kensington adaptors going for ~$30 ... has anybody had luck with them?
fwiw, i'm shopping for my dell latitude d410. |
1. What type of in-flight connector does Brussels Airlines use: "cig lighter" type or empower?
2. What type of power connector is used on ICE trains? |
I just visited the Kensington website to look for smart tips and it appears that Kensington has changed it's tips. They have a new adapter that has a USB slot and all the new cell phone tips plug into that USB slot to charge. I can't find the old smart tips for sale on their website either. Am I missing something or have they completely revamped their adapters and smart tips are now going to be obsolete?

LEnovo T60 on Virgin - help needed
hi there
In the apst I have been able to use and power my IBM thinkpad T40 on Virgin Upper Class. I now have a Lenovo t60p and none of the tips in the cabin pack fit it. Any ideas on how I can get this working? Thanks |
Hi - first post so apologies if I breach any 'unwritten' rules here.
Had a good look through this thread but still quite confused so here goes... Flying to Australia in April, and thought it would be a good idea to take the laptop to watch films, play a bit of FM etc to break up a very long journey. Lucky enough to fly business class (not sure which carrier yet) which should mean power to the seat. Now I know I need some sort of device to get power from the seat into the laptop but after that I am totally confused. I think I need something like these Trust Car-Plane Notebook Power Adapter Kensington Universal 70w Ac/Dc Power Adapter Electronics Euro Ultra Slim Universal Power Adaptor Kit (The last one just looks good to be fair :D) Does anyone have any views on the best option? Am I right in thinking that the Kensington can be used in place of my usual laptop power pack? (I suspect that the Tumi one can as well ) I know that I have to make sure that the tips are compatible etc. Any help gratefully received as this is making my head spin! |
