P.S. USB C charging hasn't even really been a thing that long, so obviously, you charged with some other cable prior to that, it just wasn't a lightening cable.

So I travel with a bunch of electronics, and everything in my bag charges or uses USB-C. I made a point of that. When my other 10 or so gadgets all use USB-C I'm not eager to have to use another type of cable for anything:

Headphones, MacBook Air M1, ThinkPad, ThinkVision external monitor, iPad Pro, External HDD, Battery bank, two android phones, all USB-C.

My stupid Samsung watch also doesn't get any love when traveling and almost gets thrown out everytime due to its charging interface.

As for the other cable comment, I actually primarily upgraded to the iPad pro I'm using to get rid of the lightning cable I had to use with my older iPad Air.

That article was supposed to be satire, no?

$3, fraction of an ounce.

I brought along the charging puck for my Active2 watch and Mrs. Swede's Galaxy Watch 2. It was about the fourth week of our 5-week trip when I remembered that our phones (we both have the Galaxy S20 FE) could charge our watches using the wireless power share feature.

It's definitely a thing.

Agreed, definitely the ZDnet article, it’s under their Technically Incorrect blog; the original Android Central, however…

Definitely a thing. I have iMessage chats with groups and one of the criteria is you have to have an iPhone that runs a software that supports iMessage. If you get a single Android user in there it turns the whole group message green and removes all the iMessage features.

That said, I don't consider that to be shaming, it's just the reality of running a different system.

I bought the trio charging pad for $30 or $40 when it was on sale and use that for charging my watch headset and phone if not plugged in. I leave the oem cable in my bag so I'll have it when I travel.

Wow that's a lot of butthurt for a fluff piece. There's something to be said for consumer preference and phones that just work. At the same time, lagdroid users wouldn't be so insufferable if so many weren't nutjobs that go around shilling for their ...... choice of phone and whatever half-baked hacked together software they've shoehorned onto their phone for the week. It's almost like some people are so autistic with their "customization" fetish they waste endless hours like their time is worthless... They're actually worse than the open sores GNU/loonix freaks the butt of internet jokes

This is satire right? People don’t attach their self worth to their brand of cellphone, right?

I know a couple of Mac users who have a cult-like love for the brand and are quick to dismiss Android and PC. One was a business associate who was constantly droning on about the superiority of Mac. She learned a sharp lesson in Eastern Europe when she was unable to connect her MacBook to an older AV system. My PC connected and worked just fine. :)

There's a difference between the US and Europe (and possibly the rest of world). The majority over here use WhatsApp, so there are no issues connecting between iOS / Android. I never use iMessage despite having an iPhone / Mac / iPad.

iPhones look better, but Androids are more practical.

Some of us prefer function over fashion. ;)

Not really sure how a rectangular piece of metal with an LCD screen and buttons on the side can look better than another rectangular piece of metal with an LCD screen and buttons on the side.

I use both Samsung S21 and iPhone 12 every work day. Neither is more practical than the other for any of my needs.

More practical in what way? I use both on a regular basis and honestly don't experience any material differences.
