I try to describe the problem as I experience it in post #66 . In post #71 , I linked to one of many Apple threads where others report the same problem.

Glad you do not have this problem with you iW (Apple Watch) with your iPhone and AirPods when they are all in use at the same time with a phone call. I do not experience issues with music, but only phone calls which is explained very well in the Apple thread.

Beatsx. Bose SoundSport or airpods for exercise (high intensity spin and regular sit-ups, push-ups, general weights, etc)?

I have / had all 3.
  • I had the Beatsx and returned them - the sound was very "tinny" and almost zero base. Great form factor and love how light they are. Fit my ears well and provided a good seal. Sound was TERRIBLE.
  • The SoundSports have great sound and fit really well for high intensity workouts. The wire on the back wasn't uncomfortable and I quickly forgot it was there within the first ~5 minutes of wearing them. I still pack them to the gym but they mostly stay in the gym bag or locker.
  • The AirPods just work...and I really wanted to not like them. I was worried that they would fall our as they just "sit" there in the ear. I have gone running, biking and even jump rope with out an issue of them falling out. Doesn't matter if I am on my side doing rotator cuff work or on a decline bench doing abs....darn things just stay put. The sound is good but not as good as the Bose SS' but good enough for everyday. The seamless integration with my iPad, iPhone and MacBook is totally worth it. and love the charging case. I typically get about 5 hours out of music per charge on the pods and ~2.5 hours of phone use. The case will charge 4-5 times.

I have the AirPods and SoundSport. For anything beyond a casual walk, the AirPods fall out of my ears. Perhaps I have unusual ears, I don't know. Even during a run I'll need to adjust the SoundSport, or they may also fall out. But they are more stable, especially for lifting weights. I've had AirPods drop right out of my ears while benching.

Bought the BeatsX, tried them on and returned them. Can’t stand the wires hitting my face. Bought air pods today and they kept falling out during spin. May try buying the adapter that holds them in place. Considering buying the soundsport free and just doing a direct comparison. I was really hoping the air pods or beats would work as I don’t want to carry multiple pairs of headphones or adapters and want something that can last an intercon flight.

For this reason, I bought the Jabra Elite Sport - they stay in when working out, they have several fits and they last 4 hours (+ two more full charges from the case).

When I am on the move, I tend to use just one AirPod and leave the other in the case. Why? It’s one less thing to fall and potentially lose while on the move. That dropped the “fall out” rate of one or both earpieces.

My AirPods are rock solid and stay in place during hour+ runs, be that on treadmills or on steep/muddy hills. My only beef with them is that they're too damn easy to lose, I'm on my second pair. And yeah, I know about the "find AirPods" thing.

I thought the second generation AirPods were to be released in 2018. Any guesses on when they will see the light of day?
