Is there a special setting for this? When I take one out the sound stops. It resumes when both are back in my ears.

And after your post I tried them out again, walking all around the house. The left was loose and I had to adjust it several times.
Of course going up the stairs the left fell out.

I wasn't aware of the double-tap, so tried it. Siri comes up. I guess it could be helpful, but since I already have the Apple Watch, all I need to do is say, "Hey Siri." ;)

Probably you need to separately choose "play" when using only one AirPod, then it works OK. You can tap play on the iPhone, or double tap the airpod if set to play/stop.

There is a setting to choose if double tap is siri (default) or start/stop.

The AirPod settings are a bit hidden in iOS, you can find them in the Settings app -> Bluetooth -> Your Airpod, tap on the (i) icon on the right -> and you can set the name, double tap action, automatic ear detection on/off, etc.

When I use only one, I usually just put one of them on and leave the other in the box, and tap play/double tap to start.

I love mine. They are such a huge advance. They stay in my ears and make it super easy to answer the phone, listen to music ad hoc.

The charging thingie is the size and shape of a small dental floss container. It is super high quality and perfect for easily stowing and taking out these babies.

They make it easy to spontaneously use, stow, use, stow, use stow your headset and headphones. That is why these are magical.

I also have Bose noise cancelling wired in-ear headphones, and the new Bose over the ear giant headphones, and these Apple ones are my favorite for normal use now.

I may have a faint buzzy problem in one and may get a replacement from Apple but I think these are a massive winner. And it's due to how easy they are to use and stow.

I know for myself to lose or near lose things due to jetlag (near lose: I've left my passport on the airplane at the end of transatlantic flights. Twice.) I can't imagine how many of these will be lost in the post-flight stupor.

I've left my iPad on the plane twice --- and both times it was returned to me (the second time was a long time and I ended up buying an additional one so now I have a backup). I expect I will be adding an additional AirPod once or twice because I've left it somewhere.

to be fair it's easy to pocket so it isn't tempting to leave it in the seat pocket. It's just easy to put into my pocket.

Some folks have come out with airpod straps. Kinda defeats the purpose of being completely wireless, but would probably help with not losing them. The Spigen one looks nice.

Also, they have EarPod covers with the ear hook things which may make it easier to stay in. Apparently, the vendor for the items listed below are working on versions for the AirPods.

I got my AirPods yesterday (finally). So far I am digging them, and loved how easy everything paired to my other devices once I paired them with my phone.

Looks like a firmware update was released recently to address battery concerns. ATT also has them in stock of folks were trying to snag a pair.

the live map here is useful for finding stock. I got a pair last week from Verizon when I got the alert and they were delivered next day.

That is just amazing timing. Woke up to this, saw that stores had stock within 5 min of me checking. Made a quick run to the store and found a pair in stock! Cancelled my ATT order. Thanks!

^ seems like stores are getting some stock every week or so. Verizon has them online now. Other carriers had them this weekearlier .

My review of the AirPods. As they come in the box, the right ear fits great, the left one not so much. I ordered aftermarket (earpods) covers to make them snug. They work great now and can work out in them. The sound is great, but not so much when there is noise around, so no noise cancellation. I like the beats better, as you can just switch the song and volume up and down from the strap. On the airpods you have to tell it what to do, so it listens to your voice. It's a personal preferecne. I think im going to keep them as I like having no straps and the battery life is good.
