Keepass help
I use Keepass and just had a disaster. The .KDB file became corrupted and I could no longer access it. Worse still, I accidentally deleted the most current kdb file. I do have an older kdb file, but Keepass refuses to import it, saying it needs to be in a ./*.PWD format. Yet when I try to change the file name to /*.pwd, windows won't let me, saying I can't use a "/" on the file name. Is there any hope, other than re-entering hundreds of pass words?

Thank you, but it did not work. Even though is *.kdb.pwd, when I try to import it into Keepass, it attaches a .pdf to the end of the name automatically, so Keepass does not recognize it. Any other ideas?
I am using Windows 7. |
put the file name in quotes.

YES! That helped. Windows would not let me do " ", but would let me do ' '.
Keepass opened the file and displayed it in it's usual manner. At least I was able to print off a listing in a readable, usable format. Now, one more issue. I like to keep this database in my dropbox so I can access it in multiple locations. The problem is that, without using Keepass, when I click on it, it opens in in a stylized pdf format, but the passwords etc. are readable. Not good for security. Is there any easy way to make sure 'database.kdb.pwd' would only be opened if Keepass tells it to? |
No idea, but I question the utility of a password manager that saves its passwords unencrypted!

Some key pass apps will open the encrypted database file as an email attachment.

Does anyone have any experience using Enpass? Right now, my passwords are on a password-protected Word document on my tablet, and I'd to be able to both improve overall security and to transfer them to my laptop and phone. However, I have a Blackberry so the only password apps I have available are Keepass and Enpass. The latter's interface seems more intuitive to me.

As a final update on my Keepass issues, here is what happened.
I managed to find a deleted .kdb file containing the most current information. I deleted the Keepass program on my computer. I then downloaded the new Keepass 2.X version. Keepass 2 would not open a .kdb file, but instructed me to rename the file and convert it to a .kdbx file. Following the instructions, it resulted in what I wanted, access to all my passwords by inputting my loooog security code on the Keepass 2.0 home page. Note that I probably spent 10 hours on this adventure. |
