Video of people stealing said packages 2 way intercom remotely when you are not home Video when the kids arrive home safely etc... If you can't think of a use case, then it isn't for you. If you can't come up with a use case, you don't really want to spend a lot of money on a new toy.;) Doorbell, peephole; they still work pretty well, but they're boring.:D |
OK. Now I think I may get this for the house in Florida.
What's the $3 a month for? Is that just for the cloud recording? So if I just want the remote video doorbell while we're at work there's no monthly fee? Also, can I use it with multiple phones (wife and mine)? Is there a way to disable notifications per phone so I can disable it when I'm out of town so only she gets the notifications? |

Once one device is signed up, you can add multiple users. You can turn notifications for calls and motion on or off on your device, but to be honest, I haven't tested to see if that is on a per-device basis. |
I just got one of these. I choked a bit on the $200 price, so bought an open box from Amazon for $155. Looked like a totally new unit to me.
Simple installation, but the video wasn't working. Called them up, and reset the unit (hold down the orange button inside for 15 seconds) and it worked fine. There is a lag to the motion detector, but in general it works fine. I'm often out of town, so it's great to know when there are packages left. Mine is wired into my existing doorbell, so no need to charge it. I really like the intercom, especially as I have UPS packages picked up from the house. I just wish that my front entrance had a clear view of my mailbox, too. |

Ah, I see where my disconnect is. I live in a multi-unit dwelling so no one actually rings the doorbell of my actual unit. And I'm not going to upgrade the building intercom system for the building's front door. :)
That said, my building would love to have the ability to let the UPS delivery person leave packages inside the foyer. Thanks, Scott! I suppose you could argue that I wouldn't really know it was the UPS guy since I couldn't see him but in the world of things I care about, that was pretty low-risk and he was only getting as far as the foyer. |
My Ring doorbell helped me catch a package thief who stole over $1000 worth of packages off my front doorstep yesterday.
With the help of my great UPS driver, and the police, I got all my items back. |

I had a loft in the city that had one of those keypads at the front door that would call your cell phone. The UPS guy would call and I could be anywhere in the world and buzz him into the secure foyer to drop off a package. Worked well.
