If they can steal credit cards, why bother with phones?

I'm looking at buying an iPhone 6 in Japan over christmas, and I'm a bit annoyed to see that there has been a price hike. On release it cost 67800 JPY and now apparently they've increased the price to 75800 JPY. Is there any particular reason to why they increase the price, and would it by any chance drop until december? I know the boxing day sale is after christmas, so is it perhaps more clever to buy it then, assuming there might be a discount? Also is it still possible to shop VAT free as a foreign national?

In praise of iCloud
I'm back home, safe and sound, and the replacement iPhone was waiting for me. Only problem was that they still come preloaded with an old version of IOS, so my initial attempt to use the iCloud backup failed.
The steps for me (T-Mobile) were: Go to my T-Mobile to reactivate my phone number which had been turned off just after my loss. Open box Get SIM number off the card. (how can Apple, with all their design wizardry make you stick a paper clip into your phone to eject the SIM, but I digress) Enter the new SIM number online via my T-Mobile Turn on phone and follow steps Attempt to setup using the iCloud backup. Fail, since the backups were from a newer version of the software. Frantic Googling ensued. Set up phone as a new phone Download the software update. Go into settings and wipe the phone Set up again, this time choosing the iCloud backup. From there on it was smooth sailing, all the apps came over as did my all my contacts including those flagged as favorites. I haven't checked them all, but so far only one has asked me to reenter the acct/password. The only other thing I needed to do was to set up the fingerprint recognition and reenter my email passwords. I even got back all my photos except the few I'd taken the day of the theft after the last synch. Only thing left to do is to schlep to the Apple store to buy a new case. Overall, a happy camper. |
You guys do know that an operating system isn't a political party affiliation or a religion, don't you?

Back when the iPhone 6 came out I decided to stick with the 5s since I didn't see much value add with the 6. Now it seems that my opinion is a popular one as iPhone 5s sales are shooting up.

http://uk.businessinsider.com/iphone...soc-gen-2015-4 many countries didn't get the iphone 6 or 6 plus at launch and still haven't.. also, the 5s was/is always cheaper than nearly any 6 or 6 plus so the price focussed buyer may buy one instead of the other. The volume of 5s to 6 or 6s in other countries I would think is going to be several multiples compared to the USA/NA multiple.. So, not truly a trend |

Help, my iPhone bent, a good 5mm — at Apple Store, Sherman Oaks. Happy to report that after a short wait I was handed a brand new phone, no questions asked! |

I do like the form factor of 5s. The 6 is a bit too big for my liking.
But I dislike the lack of grip from the new case. I'm forced to use a silicon case in order to avoid it slipping from my hand. :td: |
