HP To Sell $169 Android Tablet
According to http://www.engadget.com/2013/02/24/hp-slate-7-hands-on/, HP plans to re-enter the Android market. Supposedly, it'll be running a dual core 1.6 GHz CPU and have a microSD slot.
Hmm... get the Nexus 7 with a better pedigree or get something with expandable/removable memory.... Or, just keep my 32GB Touchpad - which has great build quality and is running Android just fine. :D |
I'm getting on fine with my 32gb Nexus 7. I got a USB adaptor for less than £10 so expansion isn't a problem.

My two are still running strong. Just hoping I can find another touchstone charger for cheap.

Must be the only one, well worth the $99 paid for them, but not of good quality at all, 3 of the 4 I got dead now. Can revive them for a while with the old lots of button pushes low battery trick but it gets tiresome.

I've also got a couple of friends with the Touchpad and none of ours have died. Are you running WebOS or Cyanogenmod?
It isn't a rare issues, not worth looking up if you don't have the issue but if you ever plug in and the screen wont come on just the white home LED, give me a PM I'll refer you to a couple hundred threads of discussion on the fix and give you the 2 min fix summary of mad button pressing to get it to come on.... |
Hmmm...I did get battery drain when running CM7 but once I went to CM9, it holds its charge extremely well. Even after a couple of months of not using it.

For those that may not be keeping up-to-date on the latest in Android development for the HP TouchPad, the legendary jcsullins has released an application that (1) can completely remove WebOS (leaving only the WebOS bootloader intact) and (2) makes installing new ROMs even easier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2756314 Now running KitKat on my TouchPad. :) |
How's that OEM battery doing?
|
Surprisingly well. I cycle both TouchPad between our single touchstone charger (sometimes connecting the other to a 1A trickle charger). If it's idle, it can go for a few days without running out of battery.
|
Thanks for the info. I haven't been following updates on the Touchpad much as mine is still running 4.1.2.
Have you noticed better battery life or any other benefits? |
No idea. I really screwed up my TouchPad that was running ICS. So I wiped everything and installed KitKat about three hours ago. :D
|
Seems interesting, but I am in the market for a new laptop over a tablet currently!
|
Not even a cellular modul. What a bugger! I'll keep my iPad mini with Retina. :)

In life, you get what you pay for. Spend the money and get something decent.
