Not sure about other TouchPad owners, but it was--and still is--absolutely $150 well-spent. I have seen the Nexus 7 going for around $170, but my TouchPad continues to do everything I need a tablet to do.

People seem to forget this was a $600+ tablet that was fire-saled at $150. The original MSRP was definitely not $150! |

Thanks for the info. I haven't been following updates on the Touchpad much as mine is still running 4.1.2.
Have you noticed better battery life or any other benefits? As for battery life, it barely sips on the battery when idle. When in use, it does very well. There is a firmware flash you can do through the TouchPad Toolbox that is also supposed to help if you experience any battery drain issues. I did not flash the firmware, and I don't think I need to. I will most likely upgrade Mrs. Swede's TouchPad to KitKat soon. |
Both TouchPads have been upgraded to KitKat, and they are running great. Then I was reading on SlickDeals today about how Office Depot/Office Max have a few tablets on clearance. Nexus 7 32GB (2013) for $150. Luckily, I picked up two.
Should I keep the Nexuses and sell the TouchPads? I think the upgrade in resolution is worth it alone. Plus, the Nexuses will get Lollipop--something I doubt the TouchPads will. I still see ads for TouchPads on Craigslist, and the average price is a shade over $100. |
I was reading the power usage under sleep mode for Kitkat was a lot higher than it should be as most are still "beta". I've kept mine on 4.2.2 because of it.
Honestly, as long as people keep working on the custom ROMs, I think the Touchpad will get Android L, M, and N. Mine is still working like a champ. ;) |
You should try the jcsullins Kit Kat ROM. It literally sips battery when not charging.
|
I'll give that one a try. Thanks!

HP To Sell $169 Android Tablet
I might have to give my touchpad a resurrection. I think I put ice cream sandwich on it but just put it away because of the battery drain issue. Maybe a kitkat upgrade will help. Unfortunately nothing will fix the decidedly chubby (by today's standards) appearance.

My tablet is nothing but an entertainment device, and pretty much used exclusively to watch movies/tv when I 'm flying. Nobody really cares about thickness and the newest tablets are a just a few mm thinner.
Best $149 I ever spent. |

Hmm... get the Nexus 7 with a better pedigree or get something with expandable/removable memory....
There is an article or video on the web somewhere, explaining why they did not design a storage slot in the (original) Nexus 7. You can agree or disagree with what they were trying to do, but it was more about stability than Google being cheap about a slot. |
I'm actually suprised at the lack of talk on XDA of porting Lollipop onto TouchPads. Although, someone did post a teaser screenshot and said it's coming soon. That said, I'm guessing a stable version is still probably a month away, and I hope I will have sold my TouchPads by then.
