Weather App/Widget for Android?

anyone know a decent weather widget for android?

joshwex90 Mar 13, 2012 3:26 am

I use "Animated Weather Widget, Clock" with Droid RAZR. It didn't come with any pre-installed.
It's a pretty good widget, and does everything you need. Shows weather and time, and touching the time shortcuts to your alarm clock.
Similar to the stock widget for HTC phones

I use WeatherPro, and am happy with it.

I liked: Beautiful-widgets
Almost identical to the stock widget(Sense UI) for HTC phones.

They don't have a free one, do they?

BeWeather Pro, hands down. I've only paid for about three apps on my phone (the rest are free apps or via promotions), and this was one of them.

BeWeather Pro was the only weather app I found that used all possible WUnderground feeds, so I could select the weather station located in my neighborhood as opposed to one 12 miles away.

I used Fancy Widgets for both my HTC DI2 (instead of stock's Sense clock/weather widget/apps) and VS Vpad7 tablet (free verison available or upgrade to fancier one with more skins & options) V3.5.5 - it's available in the "Market" ooops - that's old name for the "Play Store" in Android, LOL.

Widgets can be configured in 1x1, 2x1, 4x1, 4x2 and 4x4 - linked to AccuWeather and even on 4x1, display a great deal of info at a quick glance - without showing another clock on the homescreen ...

For me, it does 1X1, 2X1, 3X1, and 4X1. It doesn't do 4X2 and it doesn't have a clock. Am I missing something?

Another thing I just noticed with Fancy Widgets is: It looks just Sense which is great as I'm used to that (I also have HTC ThunderBolt). Annoying though that touching the time brings me to the settings of the App as opposed to Sense (and Animated Weather I believe) which brought me to my alarm clock.
Also, just curious - I liked the animated wallpaper included with Sense that showed the weather on unlock (if it's raining, it rained and did the windshield wiper, etc.) Anything like that with Fancy Widgets?

Stop being cheap. Most people pay an arm and a leg for their phone plan and a few bucks for a very good app is a drop in the bucket.

Others don't pay an arm and a leg for their phone plan, and like trying lots of different apps, and it's not worth paying when every cent counts, and look for different apps, and why bother paying when there are perfectly good free apps, that can be deleted if they aint good.

Its not about being 'cheap'. Its about bang for the buck. Google's tight 'try it' window of 15 minutes makes it almost impossible to fully try a app out.
As with most apps, there is a 'free' app and a 'paid' app that does almost the same thing.
As for phone plans,$30 a month isn't an arm & leg. But $3.99 is pretty close :D

Well stated. My post didn't come out clear, so I'm going to re-try:

I don't pay an arm and a leg for my data plan. Regardless, I still like to watch how I spend money.
There are tons of free apps out there, so why should I spend money on paid apps if I don't need to? If it's an absolutely essential app, then fine. If not, I'd much rather play around with free apps that I can always delete if I don't want. With paid apps, if it aint a good one - bye bye money.
