The 3 outlet Belkin pictured several times on the previous page is available for $9.99 today at Dell (thanks to Gadling for mentioning it) they say with free shipping.

While I have that Belkin, it must be noted that it is not multi voltage which is a shame -- and honestly it's just a bit too bulky. Google PS2 Travel Power Strip for a better solution.

I have traveled off and on with a three prong adapter and a 9' extention cord (yellow) :D
For longer trips I have an 8 outlet surger protector I bring along for longer trips (for hotel rooms to plug everything in). I have learned there is only so much one can plug into those car adapters (using a cigerette lighter) :p Not sure what happened to my splitter though :( |

Sorry to drudge up an old thread but the ipad needs more power then what is delivered by the Belkin and Monster strips. I have one these
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 Is it ok to plug this into 220v with an adapter? its only rated for "A/C Rating: 125 Volts, AC 15A" to use it on 220/240, you'll need a converter, which typically also acts as an adapter to the different plug config. |

Thanks for confirming what i suspected. The belkin and monster usb ports dont supply enough power for the ipad (5v?). Any alternatives?

Don't use a surge suppressor on anything other than the voltage it's rated for. A 120v surge suppressor will see 240v as a surge and blow.

I have one of these guys plugged into the wall by my bed. Be warned that the USB ports won't charge anything that requires more than 500mA from the USB port - which includes obvious power hogs like the iPad and also other electronics like my Blackberry 9700. I think my Kindle also needs more power but have never tried plugging it into the usb ports, now that I think of it.
When I plugged my 9700 into the USB port, it said that there was insufficient power available for charging, and the little green light on the outlet strip started flickering. I use one of these at home, and take it on travel with me. It will fully charge both a Kindle and an iPhone from dead from the USB ports. |
I like this one:
http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=APS03US 4 outlets facing different directions. They could all be wall warts and it would still fit. It also has basic surge protection. If I ask politely to share an outlet that is already in use, most people will let me insert the strip @:-) |
