Suggestions on a BASIC Cordless Phone for home?
OK, I need to replace an aging cordless phone at home.
I've used a few others and found the quality and/or reception to be nasty on some.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a BASIC cordless phone model that they like?
No special features are desired. Just a cheap yet reliable cordless phone....

Anything DECT 6.0 should be fine. I use Panasonic cordless phones and they are the best, speaker phone, etc. You can use them as a basic cordless phone, but they have advanced features that are there if you want it.

I too moved to the DECT phones, whatever was on sale at BJ's at the time, think it was five stations, the base with the answering machine, and chargers all for $50 or something.
Watch the really cheap ones, if you have wireless they may be on the same frequency and cause problems.

+1 for Pansonic, although I'm UK based very please with mine which I bought 6 years ago and still going strong.

AT&T branded those phones from some other manufacturer; look inside the battery well or other location to see who the actual manufacturer was. :-:

Can't even use a headset to talk.....but it's connected to my cable modem and works like a charm!

Another +1 for Panasonic. IMO worth a premium over other well rated brands. My base station is one inch from my wireless DSL /modem router and two inches from a Dell desktop, and its quiet as a church mouse. I've had mixed luck with VTech and AT&T, and bad luck with GE.

Any phone that supports the DECT 6.0 standard. You might want to grab a set (usually two or three handsets bundled together) at Costco or Sam's Club for around $50.
Sometimes OfficeMax has on sale a single generic DECT 6.0 cordless phone for $10 - $20.

At Christmas I had a hard time finding a single basic cordless phone. Everything I found was either multiple handset or had an answering machine included. I finally found a uniden for $12 at CVS of all places

I like Panasonic phones because they use standard AAA rechargeable batteries, and generally have all the features one would need on a phone - speakerphone, mute, headset plug, intercom to each other / base, advanced phonebook / contacts / ringer options.
