Personal Bag Recommendations

Hi All -

Long time lurker, first time poster. First of all thanks for all the great information. It's always great to have input from fellow travelers.

I've read several threads on best laptop bags, business backpacks and "help me choose a bag", but I'm still somewhat conflicted. I travel internationally about twice a month (Europe, Asia, and South America) and I'm looking for something to carry my MacBook Pro, Dell 15" laptop, iPad, accompanying cables and adapters, notebook and occasionally a DSLR. I travel with a 22" roller as my carry on, so this will need to serve as my personal bag. Here is what I'm considering:

Eagle Creek Convertabrief or Straight Up Business Brief

Tumi T-Tech Network - Convertible Laptop Brief Pack

Ideally I want something that has a luggage loop so I can slide it onto my roller.

If anyone has any input on the bags above or any other suggestions, they would be much appreciated! I'd like to keep it under $250.

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies! When I do carry my DSLR (Canon 60D), I typically bring just the body and one lens. If I'm carrying more, I bring my Crumpler camera bag setup.

This may be worth a look.

I read a review of it recently on http://1bag1world.com/

I'm not familiar with the bags you mentioned but the Eagle Creek looks really interesting.

If you've got some decent interior space, a Timbuk2 camera insert in size XS holds a DSLR and a non-exotic lens and can turn any bag into a camera bag.

I actually had looked at the Professional Weekender and the Slim Professional from eBags. My biggest concern with the weekender was it's size. In the pictures it looked pretty big and I doubt it would pass as a "personal item" that fits under the seat. Do you have the weekender bag? If so, is it as big as it looks?

No, I don't have the weekender. I've just admired them online. I have a 25 in check in ebags that I really like, quality wise.

Not sure if you want to have a DSLR and 2 laptops in the same bag. Will probably become bulky and heavy. When I travel for work I have a laptop bag with my work and personal laptops in it plus I use a billingham camera bag to hold my DSLR if necessary.

I use a Briggs and Riley 231X. It fits the personal item sizer for United, American and Air Canada provided it isn't expanded or stuffed too full. It also looks acceptable in a business environment as a laptop bag.
