So was the 1-2-1 first class installed on some 772ers on delivery? Or was it a installed as a mid-life upgrade?

The first 777-200s were delivered in the 2-2-2 configuration pictured above. Shortly thereafter some began to be delivered in the 1-2-1 configuration (known as the Atlantic Configuration) and by the mid 2000s all planes were retrofitted to 1-2-1.
