Just, you and I will have to disagree on this one. But our points have been made clearly, so readers can decide for themselves.</font>
Fair enough, but do note that there are three arguments here (as I see them):

Brian (paraphrasing): The silent majority is proof that Americans overwhelmingly accept the new aviation security measures.

Spiff & others (paraphrasing): There is a strong undercurrent of American resentment to the new aviation security measures, possibly constituting a majority of the American people.

JPT: There is insufficient evidence to mount a convincing argument for a majority either way.

Have I misrepresented anyone's position?

There are two groups:

Frequent Travellers & American Public

I would say that you would be hard pressed to prove a majority of Frequent travellers are in favor of the way the Transportation Security Act of 2001 has been implemented.

I would say that it would be very easy to prove that a majority of the American Public is in favor of the way that the Transportation Security Act of 2001 has been implemented.

The difference between the groups is that the Frequent Traveller is there all the time. We can spot the idiocy and window dressing. The American Public is there 2 times a year at best and all they see is SECURITY and they feel all warm and fuzzy!

So, when the media goes out to cover Airport Security, they will inevitably interview people from both camps. But, given the liberal bias amongst the media, they will only report the positive reviews.

I agree with both JPT and CG http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

C'mon now let's get real here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif, If there is no profiling can you explain why I would be chosen for a "random" search on all four segments of the same trip? this has happened on more than one occasion, guess it has less to do with my ethnicity and just coincidence, huh? As for "security" rules at the airport they woul make an awful lot more sense if they also applied to people coming into the country via bus, car and train or don't terrorists travel that way?

Profiling can be based on factors other than ethnicity, hence the CAPSS II system.
