ATMs are everywhere. Best to use the one at the airport 1st, until you're familliar with the ones in your area.

As always, guard your PIN number and ensure no external devices have been added to any machine you insert you card into.

I use ATMs here all the time without incident.

Yes everywhere, even in a van by the roadside.
Only place I have ever seen a "mobile" ATM was in Phuket, near Nai Harn Beach I think

Karon also has a long beach road with some shops facing the beach.

Amazed at how many visitors think Phuket=Patong when Patong is actually the least desirable town on the west coast. Does anyone ever wonder why the better hotels are located well away from Patong ...

Slag Patong all you want, but it's where the business is.

I'd guess the main reason they build elsewhere is the cost of land.

Doesnt make sense to me, since its not too expensive to build low end hotels there.

Having said that, I do notice Patong is slowing getting slightly more upmarket with the opening of the new Millennium and the upcoming rebranding of the former Grand Tropicana to a Courtyard by Marriott
