How is the weather in Phuket during August and September?

Usually somewhat overcast mornings and pretty rainy afternoons, with rough surf conditions for swimming and boating. Off-season prices are a plus, though.

You're basically talking the 'teeth of the monsoon'. Rain could be sporadic or solid. At the beach, it's like swimming in a washing machine. IIWY, I'd book night to night & leave the return flight to BKK or SIN open. The hotels aren't busy. That way you can bolt if the rain gets old. wj

Weather can be very different during these months. Sometimes you just get one hour rain and the rest of the day is sunny, sometimes it's pouring like hell. Anyhow I quite like the green season, things calm down, places are not that crowded.
