THAI will change aircraft types on some flights during 12-20 Nov 2017
From Thai Airways facebook page, THAI announces changes of aircraft models operated on some flights during 12-20 November 2017 due to the necessarily required maintenance of some Airbus A380-800s:
1. Flights TG116 and TG117 on 16 November 2017 are to be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.
2. Flights TG201 and TG202 on 15 November 2017 are to be operated by a Boeing 747-400.
3. Flight TG642 during 12-19 November 2017 and flight TG643 during 13-20 November 2017 are to be operated by Boeing 747-400s.
4. Flights TG678 and TG679 on 16 November 2017 are to be operated by a Boeing 777-300.
5. Flights TG910 and TG911 on 13, 15, 16 and 18 November 2017 are to be operated by Boeing 777-300ERs.
Looks like after the A380 had technical issues for quite some time, it is time for pulled it for a major maintenance.

And I am booked on TG911 on the 15thNov. Just tried to login but the seatmap is showing an error msg.
Will be interesting to see they fit all F and C from an A380 into a B777-300ER. They are still selling Y class on that flight, but not F and C. I prob would get to the airport early just to be sure to get in cos there is no way online check in would work.

Premium Check in was normal 2 hours before departure, was told there are a number of downgrades to Y from C. Over heard a pax downgraded from F to C with fare diff plus something else. Also a couple arguing with the staff and some phone calls.
I was not asked and no offers made to me. I am happy where I am and can say not effected.

Unless I am mistaken there are no Thai 777 aircraft with First class?

in such situations if they have to move max 12 F and 60 J passengers from the A380 to 42 J seats of the 777-300ER to have a Status is certainly an Advantage!

Yep, indeed. Only sharing on what I experienced, maybe that was due to status rather than first come first seat allocation? Not sure....
I did take a walk to the back and Y was not full even after the swap.
Anyhow flight was late by 45 min, plane parked at remote stand and after bus to terminal was met by agent and escorted with golf cart to transit for onwards connection to SYD.
Did notice a reduction in service. Plate service per course (back to tray) as well as the satay and bbq pork option with noodle soup for mid flight snacks were gone. It was back to mama noodles with fish cake and egg. Also they ran out of champagne 😭, in C that is new to me.

of course allocation is according to status and NOT as a first come first serve. Or do you think they will risk to downgrade a Platinum member or a TIP from C to Y?

This is really over-running.
My TG910 on 28 Nov has been swapped from the A380 to B777. In business class so no biggy.
Issue is with how seats were reallocated. I was in 12A (window first cabin) and got shifted all the way back to 19D (second cabin, centre aisle)
