The search button, and Zagat, are your friends here.

So I see.

Ah,be nice :)
We stayed in the W,which wouldn't be to everyones liking.
The R-C over the road is generic yet very nice.No idea on service.
The rosewood is your other option.

The four seasons is a golf hotel,it's nice but out in the middle of nowhere.

Hotel and restaurant choices (and the quality thereof) in Dallas and the Metroplex depend largely on the locations in which you need to be. With limited public transit and marginal taxi service, the prairie is a great big place, and even when driving up from Waco on business or pleasure, my choices are dictated by my destination(s).

Its Dallas.

Most pretentious, but I will agree the service is good
= Rosewood Mansion Turtle Creek

Good value, modern new building, and less pretentious
= the new Ritz Carlton (village)

Personally, I cannot stand Dallas (in all forms)

The Mansion though is in a good location to all the "right places" in Dallas.

The joule is nice hotel too, but its downtown. Depends on where you need to be, its a big, wide city.

Don't actually need to be anywhere as it's just a stopover. Near the shops and the buzz so the Four Seasons is out. Was thinking about the R-C (the rooms look rather quaint and small) but it's always good to hear people's opinions.

What about the Crescent Hotel, Rosewood's other property?

As the OP is seeking more than hotel information, I am moving the thread to the FT Texas Forum. Please follow there.
Thanks..

All of these (Crescent, Mansion, R-C) are within 5 minutes drive of each other. The Crescent and Ritz are slightly better locationwise since you can actually walk to lots of bars, restaurants, and the free McKinney Ave. trolley from them.

Or, if staying at the R-C, just go downstairs for an excellent dinner at Fearing's. Best meal I've had in Dallas in a while.

Good suggestions above, and I like the Adolphus as well (OK, so I stayed there on my wedding night and am sentimental about it...but it's still a very classy hotel).

I think the Ritz would work well for your purposes. Location is convenient to some nightlife and Fearing's restaurant is supposed to be amazing (regretfully, I have yet to go there, but it is high on my list). I live in the suburbs so I don't get to nice Dallas restaurants as frequently as some. Too many good places closer to home. :D

Your question is way too broad as Dallas is way too spead out. If you want nice accomodations near the heart of the city, the Palomar is great. It's across the street from the Park and Ride, so you can get some adult beverages down on McKinney Avenue and train back. (Or cabs are $10.00 each way) Or, Lower Greenville is a short cab ride the other direction if the more youthful crowd is your scene.

On McKinney, there are a lot of bars and restaurants. My favorite watering holes are The Loon and The MAT. (McKinney Ave. Tavern) For eats, Primos is a good Tex-Mex place to people watch, Manny's has the best brisket tacos ever and you can't go wrong with Grimaldi's or Fireside Pie's.

But, if you must have steak, Fearings and Perry's are the spots. If you want something better, and don't mind driving a few more miles, Bob's Steak and Chop is excellent.

Thanks for the info. Was pondering the Capital Grille and Nobu as well and I see that the Crescent is on their doorstep.

Just be sure to pronounce it like the moon not the bread

I wouldn't do Fearing's for steak. But I would go to Fearing's - best meal I've had in DFW in the past couple of years.

For steak, Bob's Steak and Chop House would be my top recommendation.
