Hard for me to comment on hotels in Dallas since I live there and don't typically stay in a hotel in Dallas. But you have been given good suggestions so far. I would probably stay at any of the places recommend in the uptown area. And would also add in Hotel ZaZa.

For a steak joint? If you are staying in Uptown, I'll suggest Nick and Sam's. A lot of my friends like Capitol Grille, but that's a chain available in many cities. You might also like Al Bernait's. It's more than just steaks, too.

+1 on Al Bernait's. Also most nice uptown or downtown hotels usually shuttle you to and from close by restaurants. A plus if you want to have more than a cocktail or two.

I would agree with the recommendations of the Mansion, Crescent and R/C. Hotel ZaZa and The Magnolia are other options in the area, but less luxurious.

The W is a bit removed from the action if there isn't a sporting event going on (it is located adjacent to the AA Center - home of the Stars and Mavericks).

I wouldn't recommend staying downtown (Joule/Adolphus) - while downtown is better than it has been in the past -the Mansion and R/C are in a livelier part of town.

I completely agree with the Fearing's recommendations. If you are looking for Steak - Perry's is good, but in my opinion, Nick and Sam's is better.

For bars, the Loon is my favorite (although it is a complete dive), the MAT, Lemon Bar, Quarter Bar are also good for drinks and people watching. The Standard Pour is newer and seems to have an interesting crowd and excellent drinks.

Enjoy your visit!
