Problems with FT Mobile Site

Hi,

Using an AT&T 8820: Get error message: A problem occurred while trying to render the page. Any ideas?

Sorry about incorrect posting forum.

I've forwarded your issue onto the tech team, but since this sounds like it might be device related I searched around on Google and found this discussion, which might help.

Sadly, we can't replicate the problem. Please let us know if you continue to have issues.

GoingAway Mar 12, 2009 9:26 pm

I have the same problem on my bb8900 all of a sudden - I can't see any specific page within a thread, just the list of theads off the "my threads' page.

Problems with the mobile site persist ... the view my threads is not updated and there is no way to access threads displayed either there or view recent activity. :td:

We are trying to replicate the issue.

Send an email if I can help - I've closed that browser and re-selected the Mobile FT site multiple times with same result since late last evening. Still seeing threads that haven't been touched since then as recent updates.

Lurker1999 Mar 13, 2009 3:55 pm

The mobile site is no longer working on my PalmOS Treo 755p either.

I can't browse forums or access subscribed forums.

Gargoyle Mar 13, 2009 6:42 pm

mobile site has been devoid of content since this morning.

When I go to "my forums" It shows me logged in but says "You have no subscribed forums"

"browse the forum" goes to an empty categories list.

"latest forum topics" shows some thread titles, with the most recent being one from 6:30 p.m. cst yesterday (I checked the date on the regular flyertalk). But anytime I do find a path like that to try to to go into a thread I get this message:
"The requested page does not yet exist"

Blackjack II, ATT service.

GoingAway Mar 14, 2009 10:09 am

Guess you guys went home for the weekend without figuring this one out ... oh, well - mobile site is still very dead

I'm getting the same errors on my BB8900, Orange UK.

Edited to add: Have also just tried it on my mac and am getting the same errors. Looks like it might be a problem with the software running the mobile version.

mbstone Mar 14, 2009 6:35 pm

How precognitive of me to be able to request pages that don't yet exist.

You and me both. Now if we could just use that skill to view airfares before they are published....

Meantime, the mobile site is still dead, Blackjack II running Windows Mobile 6.1
So, IMHO, if it's dead on mine, on BB's and on Treos, the problem is on the server end, not our end.

+1. Exactly.

Treo running Windows Mobile. Verizon service.

This is killing me. I'm like an addict in withdrawal.

I am using opera mini to access the full site. Painful, but at least I get my fix.

That one made me laugh too....

But sadly, the problem persists on VZW 8830 in DC area as well... :(

Very sad, I miss my FT...

speedbird182 Mar 16, 2009 11:51 am

Doesn't look like its specific to one area, as it's affecting both sides of the pond. Also it's not just mobile devices, have tried to access the mobile version on Phone, PC and MAC with the same results. If they are having problems finding the error then all they need to do is point any browser to the mobile site and then they can see the errors.

Quite possibly just a DB problem but it is an inconvenience. I feel quite lost without FT when I'm out and about.

We are working on the problem, but we have not completely pinned down what is causing the issue.

Not yet, we are in a holding pattern for a couple of reasons. It's a top concern though.

I tried to replicate this on a blackberry curve without success. I'll admit that I'm having difficulty because I'm not proficient with navigating websites from a phone (I use an iPhone). Can someone give me steps to replicate the error? I managed to navigate to a thread in OMNI without problems (other than me not knowing what I was doing).

Have you tried using the WiForums interface or are you going to the standard website?

One interesting thing I have found is when I go to look for "latest headlines" I received an error along the lines of "cannot find rss file". Sorry I can't be more specific, but my bberry battery is dead so I can't bring it up until I can get to the charger...

Are you viewing the wireless version (powered by wiforums) or the standard version?

Same problems on a Motorola Q (Verizon), they seem to have started Friday or Saturday. Glad to know it's not my phone... Hope mobile.flyertalk comes back soon, I miss it!

I navigate to www.flyertalk.com/wap out of habit.

IB-Dick: PM me a phone number to walk you through the steps if you still can't replicate the issue.

Apparently, I'm not one of those.... I was just at flyertalk.com. I'll try again on that subdomain.

Thanks!

Motors Mar 17, 2009 11:17 am

You don't have to just use a mobile phone to access the mobile site through the WiForums interface - it can be done through any normal internet browser, at least it can using Safari/Firefox on a Mac.

Try visiting: http://mobile.flyertalk.com/BrowseForum.php

You will see no forums.

And: http://mobile.flyertalk.com/HotTopics.php

Where you will see that the threads are a few days old and get the error message: "The requested page does not yet exist".

I know WiForums released a new version (v3.9.4) on Sunday - maybe that has a fix?

The upgrade is something that we might have to do, although we're not 100% sure if it's release is coincidental with the site breaking. Our assumption is that it isn't.

Thanks for those links....

IB-Dick Mar 17, 2009 12:34 pm

Hey, thanks again for those links guys, we were able to track down the problem and have fixed it.

Sorry for the delay!
