Offline Reader app for FT?
I've read a few notes here wherein the OP says something like "I'm typing this on the plane..." and wondering if there's an offline reader (like Outlook is to email, compared with Gmail, which requires a hot/live web connection) application that works with Flyer Talk? (Or are people just typing first drafts in Word?)
If there's no OLR, somebody should develop one! (Yeah, it would have to capture the ads, too - we want the board to trive economically. Unless the ads only pay FT on click-throughs? That would be a problem...)

In the good old days, we had Connexion by Boeing... I was able to get on the webcam 33,000 feet up in the air and impress my friends. Both Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines had it.. I used both. Dunno why but I was in First Class both times, and it was never free. I paid the same rate steerage paid.

I always assume they are using their blackberry or equivalent when typing "on the plane" or a verizon type connections (modem) from their laptop. connectivity doesn't require a hard cxn anymore, and there is usually quite a bit of time between boarding and the door closing to send an email or post a message, as desired.

I get threads in digest form sent to my yahoo mail which I actually read through a pop client (thunderbird) in my case. I can open Thunderbird in offline mode and read these while waiting in airports or on the plane.
I also get many forums sent to me in a weekly digest format and I can copy and paste links to threads I want to read into the notepad application. Then whenever I am bored and surfing the internet I go through the links.
I'll leave it to someone else to describe how they might use an offline client to post to FT but for now, I am happy just to read it even when I am not connected.

I just open all threads I want to read (including the second or more page(s) when needed) in individual tabs in Firefox on my laptop. When I want to reply, I open the reply in a new tab, and when I have the internet available, I just reload the tabs and compose my replies. Being able to read and compose replies while offline, posting them when online (like Outlook for e-mail) would be even better.
