Google ads blocking text entry window

Hey folks, I realize you need to run ads to generate revenue to run this place, but I have repeatedly run into an issue: A pop-up Google ad inserts itself into the text entry window when I try to reply to something and blocks my ability to see what I'm typing.

It's no big deal to make edits, I suppose, but I wonder if someone could set the aspect of these pop ups to make them scroll out of the way or disappear when the typing starts.

I'm using a Mac plus Safari and Firefox...have noticed the problem in both browsers. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough to be a bit irritating. Thanks.

Do you have the pop-up blocker in use and are you using the FlashBlock extension? I haven't seen these ads at all on FT, using the above mentioned options.

, you seem to be settling in around here as somewhat of a FT regular. And we're very happy and thankful for your contributions.

For a lousy $12 a year or so you too can enjoy a blissful, ad-free, non-stressful FlyerTalk experience. It truly is easier, more enjoyable and less painful to write the check than to start a thread complaining about Google ads.

Now don't get me wrong. There's absolutely no problem with complaining about the ads. Many, many FTer's do so on a regular basis. Even some I count among my friends.

I just wanted you to know there is an alternative if you so desire. And if you decide to take the plunge and go FT Ad-Free™ , drop me a PM and I'll gladly sponsor your first year's payment.

If that were the case, there would be no one on Flyer Talk at all. We'd all be writing $12 checks (and apparently enjoying it) instead of starting threads.

Thanks for the feedback all. This issue came up once before way back when and we thought we had it corrected. Obviously not

The tech team is looking into it right now to see if some setting was rolled back somewhere that might have caused this to crop up again. The issue should be resolved shortly.

Fyi, i had not had this problem for quite a while, but it just popped up again today. My work machine uses IE6 (can't use alternative browser, can't self-upgrade to IE7).

this is what it looked like after a new post.

this is what it looked like when trying to edit said post.

this is what it looked like after editing.

no big deal, honestly. just wanted you to be aware. no such issues at home (IE7, Opera, or Firefox).

Hey all, I may well pony up for a premium membership...the info I get from this place is certainly worth a measly $12 per annum. Haven't noticed the text-blocking ads lately, so thanks, if the issue's been fixed.

[Edit: Done...you know, the pages seem to load a lot faster now that I'm a fancy member ]

The
problem
has
not
yet
been
fixed.

The
only
way
to
edit
a
message
with
Google
ads
is
to
type
one
word
per
line.
That
way
you
can
see
what
you
are
typing
in
the
tiny
portion
of
the
edit
box
that
does
not
get
covered
by
the
ad.
