TalkMail Issue

HOM Technical Staff,

I see that a new Talkmail Letter is in the archives. However, nothing has arrived in my inbox.

Is there another distribution problem?

cblaisd Jul 5, 2007 8:43 pm

I got mine by email just fine.

Tim at WebFlyer Jul 6, 2007 10:01 am

The email was more than likely still in the process of being sent out. You should have it now I believe. :)

wharvey Jul 6, 2007 2:07 pm

Assuming it is still coming from [email protected], then I have not received anything.

Checked SPAM and deleted folder... nothing.

Mary2e Jul 6, 2007 6:10 pm

I haven't received the last 2 talk mails and I've never missed one before.

edit... about 2 hours after posting this it showed up in my mailbox. I think yahoo is really slow at delivering email at times.

SkiAdcock Jul 9, 2007 1:27 pm

I didn't get a Talkmail this week - ie, last week.

For a while I was getting Talk Mail in 2 email addresses (old and current email used for FT). Now I seem to be only getting in the old email. Like wharvey nothing in the SPAM folder of the current email used for FT.

We are currently looking into this I will let you know what we find... In the meantime you can go to: http://www.flyertalk.com/talkmail/ to view the latest issues ;)

Not receiving TalkMail at current e-mail address, only old addy.

When one changes their e-mail address, is TalkMail supposed to automatically change to the new addy? If so, I changed mine several months ago, but I'm still getting it at the old e-mail addy and never started receiving it at the new addy.

I looked for a place to change the addy specifically for TalkMail but couldn't find one, only an unsub link.

You can manually change the address at:

http://www.flyertalk.com/talkmail/

By unsubscribing the old address and subscribing the new one. Thank you,

Tim,

Any update on this issue?

SkiAdcock Aug 15, 2007 12:07 pm

Bumping cuz I haven't received Talkmail in a while.

Cheers.

lin821 Aug 15, 2007 1:24 pm

Same problem here.

The only and last "unreadable" one I received was dated 6/8/07. It came with all the html source codes, which I obviously can't decipher. :(

Joshua at WebFlyer Aug 15, 2007 1:46 pm

Because of the nature of SPAM, e-mail and the internet the only way to guarantee delivery of talkmail is to add [email protected] to your contact list or make sure that your ISP is aware that you want these messages. We have made some modifications this week that gives more information to ISP's and hopefully allows us to get more messages tagged as valid and into your inboxes :D. Since this is a constant struggle let us know if the problem persists with this issue of talkmail, which you should get in the next few days.

SkiAdcock Aug 15, 2007 3:59 pm

Added it. We'll see if I receive; hope so. Cheers.

chexfan Aug 17, 2007 3:08 pm

Interesting... I have always received two copies of the TalkMail (one to a hotmail, and the other to a gmail account). I didn't get the latest one to either email address this week. :(

Are you sure that the extra info, didn't in fact, make it worse?

tom911 Aug 17, 2007 3:44 pm

Mine was in my GMail spam folder...first time I've seen it end up there.

Ditto. And no it didn't go to my spam folders.

Same for me too! And I read the darn thing. :o

Mary2e Aug 17, 2007 6:10 pm

I got mine to my yahoo account for the first time in a few months.

ScottC Aug 17, 2007 6:17 pm

Mine was also marked as spam by Gmail.

For those having it sorted to your spam folder, adding [email protected] to your contacts list should take care of this problem.

I feel soooooooooo abandoned.... :(

What about those of us who just stopped getting the email, we have the right email address in our contacts list and nothing is going to SPAM? :)

Chopped Liver, eh? I know how that feels! ;)

I at least feel better knowing that I'm not the only who has stopped getting the TalkMails.

SkiAdcock Aug 21, 2007 5:16 pm

tom911 forwarded his copy of TalkMail to me over the weekend. I FINALLY (yipee!) received my own copy today. Cheers.

That's my situation.

Tim at WebFlyer Aug 22, 2007 9:07 am

If you haven't already I would double check to make sure the email you expect to be set up is set up, this can be done at:

http://www.flyertalk.com/talkmail/

by subscribing. If this fails to resolve your problem there is a chance that the provider of your email service is blocking the message before it gets to your mail box. In this case you might want to contact your email provider and let them know that you are not receiving messages from [email protected] that you are expecting to get. I'll see if Joshua has anything else to add to this. Thanks,

chexfan Aug 22, 2007 11:55 am

Alright... so you're saying everything is OK on your end...

I just think it's weird that folks have entered the talkmail email as safe on multiple providers and they are still not getting at least one of the TalkMails.:(

Joshua at WebFlyer Aug 22, 2007 1:04 pm

If anyone did not receive their talkmail newsletter please post here your ISP (the stuff after the "@" symbol). We are looking into possible issues with ISP's intermittently blocking us. In addition make sure that [email protected], not [email protected] is in your contact list. Thank you for your patience, we are working diligently with several ISP's to eliminate the problem.

@hotmail.com ... haven't had a talkmail arrive in quite a while. I do check spam occasionally, but haven't put you in the contact list - I'll do that now.

Joshua at WebFlyer Aug 22, 2007 3:35 pm

We have contacted msn in order to remedy this ^.

wharvey Aug 22, 2007 4:13 pm

@rochester.rr.com and I have received the test messages from webflyer today and the first time I encountered this problem... so the messages are getting through.

lin821 Aug 23, 2007 3:43 am

@excite.com and I haven't received any talkmail since early June.

Per Tim's advice from post #31, I just subscribed myself again and safelisted @webflyer.com. Both confirmation and welcome messages arrived almost immediately. Hopefully I won't have any problem getting the next issue. :)

I suspect the ISPs blocking glitches somehow happened between June and now when Talkmail was moving to a new server. Therefore all the pieces from [email protected] just went MIA (given it wasn't a problem before June).

BTW, not sure if this would help. I ran into similar problems with getting bonus emails from Mypoints when they were upgrading their system 2-3 years ago. I did safelist their email address million times. Mypoints insisted nothing wrong from their end. The bonusmail was nowhere in my inbox nor junk/bulk mail folder. I was simply not receiving them. After hitting the Mypoints wall and not getting any bousmail for 6 months, I finally decided to change my Mypoints account to yahoo. Voila! The bonusmail started coming in the very same day to my yahoo account.

Not sure what spam guard/filter services Excite is using. But recently, I am getting all those greeting-card/loan approval/Africa-wire-help/BIG-boy-friend spam on a daily basis but not a single talkmail. I thought those were supposed to be the BAD guys to be kept at the gate front.

I just want my good talkmail. :(

Joshua at WebFlyer Aug 23, 2007 10:42 am

We are not currently experiencing any problems connecting to rochester.rr.com or excite.com. We have made several changes since the last talkmail went out though. You should have no problem receiving the next issue of talkmail.

Yay - I finally got another Talkmail. Still only yahoo account and not my preferred gmail account.

chexfan Aug 29, 2007 11:10 pm

Nothing to my gmail or hotmail... yet. :(
