"Search this Thread" - Advanced Search, doesn't

Let's say there is a thread with 45 pages, and I want to search for posts by a particular FTer within that thread (only) ... I can't see any way to do this.

"Search this Thread" allows for a simple text search of that thread.
"Advanced Search" (within the "Search this Thread") seems to be a "Search this Forum" type search, and not a "Search this Thread" type search.

Is this something I'm doing wrong, is it a problem with the Search-this-Thread, something that can't be done, or something else?

The link to the Advanced Search under "Search this thread" is a link to the "normal" Advanced search. It does seem a little strange, but I believe the intent it to just provide a link to the advanced search as an option there, so you are not doing anything wrong.

Thanks. Would it be possible to have an "advanced" search feature within a thread? Otherwise, any solutions on how to do the search I want to?

This is something that could possibly be added in the future, yes. The best way to do this now would to open each page and use your browsers search function to find the username of the person you are looking for on each page to quickly find their posts on that page. I hope this helps.

I have this same question.

I've gotten it to the point where I do the advanced search in a forum, using a username as the search item and check the "show posts" radio button. Unfortunately, that only shows posts where your name is referenced within the post, not your original posts.

I'd like an option "show my posts in this thread." That's the short answer.

Actually that is a little different than the original question since that user wanted to search in a particular thread I believe. In order for find posts by a particular user you need to use the advanced search:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/search.php

And enter the username of the person you want to find posts from in the "Search by User Name" field, not the "Search by Key Word" field. This should do exactly what you describe.
