entire site down?

Was the entire FT site down this am, 11/14/05 from about 00:00 to 06:30 PST?

I couldn't access from anywhere, europe, US, multiple internet providors.

ScottC Nov 14, 2005 8:33 am

Yes, been down for a day or so.

airbus320 Nov 14, 2005 8:52 am

Is my imagination or are weekends more prone to the site being down?

geckoflyer Nov 14, 2005 8:52 am

And boy am I glad that its back up :) I hate going through withdrawl ;)

I was suffering withdrawal!

Why did the site go down, and for so long? I thought hosting services typically monitor for trouble, and dispatch crews around the clock to fix problems?

Perhaps the forum maintenance slated for 11/12 turned up new issues that required the entire site to be taken down?

Could be! If it was, let's hope yesterday was the last of it, I hadn't realized how addicted I was to FT until then :D

Hopefully there will soon be a description of what happened :)

By the way: The search tool seems to be timing out on me when I search within the "Credit Card" forum
Follow-up: Seems to be back up now, just really slow :(

The database seems to have been repaired, as posts since Oct 17th are now searchable, so it's all for a good cause!

I sort of liked FT-Free Sunday. I read all of the NY Times (including last week's Book Review section) LA Times, finished reading new Scott Thurow novel and cooked a proper Sunday dinner.

FT seems rather slow right now

I'm not having any problems with speed right now...and I noticed that my search seemed to return results much faster since the 'fix' happened!

Speed just improved, but it was dragging earlier on for me

I unsuccessfully tried to get my 'hit' of FT from two locations, PC & Mac, 11hrs apart (11.30AM, 10.30PM AEST Sydney daylight saving time). As it was offline so long, I searched google and webflyer.com for any news on the site or the internet connections to Australia.

[Please!] is it possible for the website administrator/host to note (at webflyer, or another related site, or on another website host) when flyertalk.com is offline, having maintenance work performed or where there are network problems?
Missed you all, and very glad FT is back better, faster and stronger :)

FlyingToFly Nov 14, 2005 9:21 pm

Are there any site administrators available for comment so we can find out exactly what is going on? I know you guys are really busy, but it would be very much appreciated, thank you! :)

It was a very cozy Sunday, much appreciated by my husband. I might have to start taking FT-free Sundays on a voluntary basis.
