There is also a 180 day membership requirement. Doesn't apply in your case, but it should be mentioned.

I reached 180 posts. Logged in and logged out...still no TCC... How can I know my posts have been qualifying or not ? (This post feels a bit like calling the Ambassador line for my RA qualification :))

You may want to logout and login in FT.

I did. To no avail.

Mary2e Sep 19, 2014 11:21 am

Check your posting history. Did you make a large number of posts in a short period of time? If that's the case, you may have been flagged for post padding just to get access to CC.

The best people to ask would be the mods of that forum.

The Coupon Connection and related issues

I did. but i think that these posts were contributive... is 80 in a week considered a lot? Is there a way of knowing who the mods are without having access to it? (Now that I have to ask for a manual review, it really is like the Ambassador line :) )

Mary2e Sep 19, 2014 11:38 am

That's not for me to judge whether or not they were contributing, but 80 in a week, when' you've been a member since 2009, and have almost double your posts in that time could have raised a red flag. Raising it further is coming here afterwards and saying you can't get into CC.

One of the mods is Wharvey and the other is Spiff (I think). You should check with them.

wharvey Sep 19, 2014 11:52 am

What wise words Mary! :)

SteamyUncle Sep 19, 2014 11:56 am

Thanks for the name of the mods ; I will contact them.
As for my 80 posts anf posting here about it, is access to TCC something you are supposed to get without the intention of getting it :)?

Reality is quite simple: I would like to use TCC and, therefore, have lurked less and posted more.
As you mention, I have been a member since 2009 and have traveled a bit, so I think I can contribute as much as the next guy.... Or not... I am not very impartial where my degree of contributivity is concerned :)

Mary2e Sep 19, 2014 12:03 pm

Well, if you've traveled a lot and have only been lurking (taking) and not giving back and then go on posting runs to get access to somewhere you'd like to go, that would explain why you probably can't get in.

CC is a "bonus" for contributing members.

Jaimito Cartero Sep 19, 2014 12:10 pm

80 posts in a week is quite a bit, unless you're one of a few Evangelists on the board. ;)

If you're caught post padding, you may be sanctioned, and kept out for a longer period. If you did 80 posts in 5 years, and then another 100 in a week, that's certainly not a normal type of behavior.

For those wanting to do similar, just find a good way to contribute to the forums without going crazy.

lin821 Sep 19, 2014 1:05 pm

In my book, any significant change in posting behavior/pattern for the purpose of increasing post count will definitely substantiate the act of post-padding.

FWIW, here's the link to FT Rules on post padding:

If you had read the wikipost at the top, you would have found:

Eligible active members (two basic criteria are 180 days of being a FlyerTalk member and having 180 or more contributive posts) will be able to see The Coupon Connection in their FlyerTalk Forums list under the Community title. If you can not see this Forum, you are ineligible to participate in it.

FT members will have to assent to abide by the new Rules prior to being granted access. (N.B. The Coupon Connection access is not a right; it is a it is a privilege that is granted for active participation and contribution to FlyerTalk, and at least 180 days of membership and 180 contributive posts. A person's "post count" is just one index of his or her experience on and commitment to FlyerTalk.)

Hi,

I was just able to post on coupon community and I was blocked for some reason.
can someone explain why? I have no information on why I was removed and why the post was deleted (followed the roles)

thanks

That's really not the issue when it comes to Coupon Connection access. For as long as we've had an access requirement for that forum, probably a good 10 years now, we've seen posters go on accelerated posting runs just so they can get in there and trade something. Typically, you'll see a poster that might contribute once a week, and then out of the blue they post 50-100 times in a period of a few days for the sole purpose of getting access to that forum. The moderators have locked out a lot of members when the posting pattern was visible. Typical posts would include "great post", "good idea", or "thanks for posting". Not a lot of value-added content there.

Your only recourse here would be following up with the moderator that locked you out, and, if no resolution, with the Community Director. Having said that, I have not read your posts to know if you fit the profile of a typical posting run.

Thank you for posting. JK :)

I honestly think the roles should be changed if they want to see a pattern of someone posting a message a day. the roles don't say anything about the time line of the posts. I really did gain a lot from FT and do honestly appreciate it.

Oh well, it's out of my hands now, what ever will be I would need to accept, hopefully we will be back in the game. I guess it's more about the feeling of coming in here for years and really be a heavy traveler for me at least (167K miles a year, 170 hotel nights a year) so I guess that's why I got a bit upset, damn airliners and hotels made me cut every line :D:D:D

Anyways again, thank all of you for your info and help, I think that we can close this thread.

Is there any reason that I don't have access?

Admittedly I posted about AA miles months back but I was unaware of FT/AA policy and promptly deleted the conversation (or requested that a moderator do so). I'd appreciate access to the forum.

Thanks

i guess you should send a PM to the moderator (Spiff) and explain your mistake.
People make mistakes, I'm sure he would understand.

safra1 Mar 18, 2015 1:41 pm

I believe I meet the requirements but I don't appear to have access. Is there a time delay before access is granted?

Mary2e Mar 18, 2015 1:50 pm

That's a mighty impressive posting run you went on.

Chances are, it is the cause of you not being able to see coupon connection.

safra1 Mar 18, 2015 1:56 pm

Apologies, didn't know that posting a lot was a problem. If it is, pls let me know what I can do to obtain access. I plan to be a regular contributor to the forum now. Thanks

Mary2e Mar 18, 2015 2:00 pm

It's not something I control or could control. I was offering a possible explanation.

yes, posting runs to gain access to CC can get your access delayed.

You would need to contact the mods of that forum to find out why you can't see it.

safra1 Mar 18, 2015 2:04 pm

Sorry for the newbie question, but can you tell me how I can lookup the forum moderator if I don't yet have access to the forum? Thx very much.

Mary2e Mar 18, 2015 2:24 pm

The mods are Spiff & wharvey. You can PM them.

cblaisd Mar 18, 2015 3:17 pm

183 posts in 4 days, with most in the last 2 days, is, as Mary said, quite a run.

You see, as noted elsewhere, such a sudden change in posting rate and volume (and then with a post in this thread!) is pretty clear evidence, istm, that the goal was to get CC access.

Here is where you will find the forum leaders of FlyerTalk: moderators, administrators, members of TalkBoard and others.

JDiver Mar 18, 2015 10:26 pm

The Moderators for The Coupon Connection Forum are Spiff and wharvey. But be aware one's longevity and post count are minimum levels of qualification - but I keep seeing "contributive" posts being discussed.

That means "drive by" posts a member makes in a thread s/he is not engaged in, posts with merely a brief comment, a flurry of posts that seem random and uninvolved in a short time period, etc. referred to on FlyerTalk as "post padding" are likely to be indicative of a "post run" and are likely to lead to being masked from TCC Forum.

As well, Administrators can reset a member's post count (reduce it) if it appears the member is making many non-contributive posts / a "post run" for TCC access. E.g. 180 can easily be reset to, say, 80.

Reading the wiki post at the top of this thread can provide a lot of insight about The Coupon Connection, it's purpose and requirements for admission.

Those denied access may request reconsideration no sooner than after ninety days have elapsed from their denial.

It also looks like more than fifty new threads in the last couple of day, and in fora scattered all over FT.

Post Padding...

Posting a lot is NOT a problem on FT, otherwise we wouldn't have FT Titles such as (A) FlyerTalk Posting Legend or any other FT status associated with posting activities.

Post padding, on the other hand, is not allowed, per FT Rules. If you had read the wikipost in this thread before raising questions, you would have seen all the relevant info such as quoted in JDiver's post.

You need to contact one of the The Coupon Connection Forum Moderators: Spiff or wharvey.

Now that the query has been moved to tech support and feedback, and merged into this existing thread, please read the information in the wiki to see if it applies.

Yep; absolutely correct.

Be very sure to read the wiki post at the top of the page. It lists some reasons why some members may find they don't have access to The Coupon Connection forum, as well as whom to contact.
