Problems posting on FT.

Okay... I know it is not the computer's fault... but man am I upset  . I don't seem to have this problem on my home computer, but all of a sudden (about 5 days ago), I am finding it very difficult to post from my computer at work  !!!

I would log into my page and then go to a thread... The moment I try to post something or reply, I need to log in again... Sometimes I would get to the Post Reply or Post New Thread page, but the moment I hit Submit New Post or Thread, it takes me back to the log-in page  .

It has taken me a few tries to get this thread posted :td: :td: ... Any idea what is wrong???

Same thing happening here. Log in, post something, a bit further down I lose my log in and have to sign in again, then later......... Happened three times so far tonight, twice yesterday. I clear cookies before I turn off my pc each day.

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem blackjack-21. It is VERY frustrating at times... Wonder how long it will take me to post his reply :( .

Unfortunately John at Webflyer, the problem persists... It even happened (though only once) on my home computer yesterday. Not really sure why this is happening or how.

PS. I have been trying for the last 15 minutes to post this reply  .

Its been happening to me all morning as well - I am logged out when I open certain threads (but not every thread, oddly).

How are you addressing the site?

As www.flyertalk.com, flyertalk.com, or maybe even by web1 or web2.flyertalk.com -- or possibly by the ip address of one of the servers?

If you don't already use it, try Firefox. In my opinion it is far superior to Internet Explorer. Less buggy and more secure. It can be downloaded free at:

I am not sure I understand the question. I go to www.flyertalk.com or www.flyertalk.com/forum/ (saved under Favorites). I have just tried going through www.flyertalk.com and choosing Forum Home. I logged in (it said thank you for logging in BEYFlyer) but then returned me to the Forum Home page where it showed that I still hadn't logged in. I click on this Forum and it showed that I was logged in. Now I am trying to post this message... I'll see if it will take it from the first try or if it will throw me back to the log in page...

So I was allowed to post the above message without having to try again :) . However, as soon as it posted, the system logged me out (even though the green dot still appeared under my name) . So, I had to log in again to post this reply. No idea what is going on. Sorry to keep troubling you with my technical issues :( .

John,

It's happening to me both when I come to FT using the IP address of 64.78.185.85, and when I use www.flyertalk.com.

Signed in earlier, with the "Remember Me" checked, yet after reading a few threads, I noticed that I was suddenly logged out. Had to sign in again to post this message in the thread. Just started happening over the last few days, and I haven't changed any settings nor the browser (Netscape 7.2) on my pc.

Seems to be happening to others here now too, so it's not my computer.

Never mind. Thanks.

BEYFlyer Jun 22, 2005 2:32 am

So I am not logged in, yet the green light is showing under my name... I click "Post Reply" and it takes me straight to Reply to Thread and now I am logged in  .

I try to check OMNI... It asks me to log in. I do. I flip through the pages, and by the third page, it throws me out and asks me to log in. I do, but it takes me back to the log in page. I do again, but it takes me back to the log in page  .

It's like I'm logged in one moment, then I'm not, then I am, then I need to log in again. But then I log out, but I am still logged on, then I need to log in again, and again, then I am fine... Aggghhhhh... It's like I'm in the Twilight Zone!!! :D

PS. Here we go again... Still trying to post this message without having to log in for the millionth time this morning...

Raffles Jun 22, 2005 3:22 am

Oddly, everything is working OK again for me this morning. Not sure what the problem was yesterday.

(FYI, I log in using the 64.78.185.85 address)

John at Webflyer Jun 22, 2005 9:52 am

Thanks. I'm going to have Tim look at your responses and how the login cookie is pathed. We'll let you know what we see.
