"A script on this page is causing IE to run slowly..."

I got the following message window while reloading the User CP page a minute ago:
A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.

Do you want to abort the script?

Yes/No
I've never seen this message on any webpage; perhaps it's related to a banner/sidebar ad? I didn't note what ad was presented.

Could be the menus or ads.

Have you thought about using a different browser?

I get this message every so often too and only on this site. I wouldn't consider using a different brower simply because I get this error only on this site. Can't you look to see what is causing this here at FT? Thanks!

If it happens occasionally it's likely an ad, and there is not much we can do about the content of ads, unfortunately.

I've been getting the same message on the site tonight. Doesn't happen on any other site, so it's related to FT.

It's still happening and only on FT. I have to use Chrome, which is awful for using the dropboxes at the bottom of the screen to move between forums.

More than two weeks later, I'm still having this problem only with FT. I'd like to go back to using IE with FT, but the bad script message pops up everytime I click a different forum. Am I destined to have this problem forever?

It's almost certainly ad-related.

If you can provide screenshots and links to the pages you're on when you see it, it might help.

But I have an ad blocker on IE.

I have FT set as my home page, and the scripting error is there as soon as it opens.

I'm happy to report I no longer get the script message. Here's hoping it's gone for good.
