Trouble reading forum posts
This seems to happen a lot. I am going through the threads in the forums. At some point I click on a link of any type. i.e. read a post, go to next page, go back etc. I end up with either a blank page or part of the page and the browser just sits there. Eventually I will either hit the back for forward button to get out of the 'freeze' (if that is what it is).
Also, when this happens I cannot hit the refresh button to restore the page I was looking at, that takes me back to the forums home page. |

Dan,
I had a similar problem around 8:15 pm eastern time last night. I clicked on Myflyertalk and the next page loaded the header tabs... and just stopped.... I tried several time before giving up... figured the FT system was down. William |
When this happens again, do us a favor and try hitting http://www.webflyer.com. That site resides in the same data center as FlyerTalk, and it may give us a better idea of what's causing these blockages.
If you know how to do a traceroute, running one on FlyerTalk the next time this happens, and posting the results here, would help us out as well. Traceroute How-To: (PC) http://www.hostroute.com/supportcentral/traceroute.html (Mac) http://www.verio.com/support/view_ar...fm?doc_id=3693 |
This is what I got on the tracert:
1 12 ms 9 ms 9 ms 10.215.156.1 2 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms 24.62.0.161 3 10 ms 9 ms 9 ms 65.96.1.149 4 19 ms 9 ms 9 ms 12.125.33.33 5 9 ms 9 ms 9 ms gbr2-p60.cb1ma.ip.att.net [12.123.40.142] 6 10 ms 11 ms 11 ms tbr1-p013702.cb1ma.ip.att.net [12.122.5.61] 7 15 ms 18 ms 16 ms tbr2-cl1.n54ny.ip.att.net [12.122.10.22] 8 16 ms 15 ms 15 ms ggr2-p390.n54ny.ip.att.net [12.123.3.62] 9 15 ms 15 ms 15 ms so-0-2-0.edge1.NewYork1.Level3.net [209.244.160. 129] 10 16 ms 15 ms 15 ms ge-2-1-0.bbr2.NewYork1.Level3.net [64.159.4.149] 11 68 ms 70 ms 70 ms so-0-0-0.mp1.Denver1.Level3.net [64.159.4.226] 12 70 ms 70 ms 72 ms so-6-0.hsa1.Denver1.Level3.net [4.68.112.154] 13 70 ms 69 ms 69 ms 63.211.236.198 14 70 ms 70 ms 70 ms gige-10-00-s14.crrt02.den02.viawest.net [216.38. 221.29] 15 69 ms 70 ms 69 ms gige-09-00.crrt01.den05.viawest.net [216.87.89.5 8] 16 69 ms 70 ms 70 ms vi-008.aggm01.den05.viawest.net [64.78.230.205] 17 69 ms 70 ms 69 ms www.webflyer.com [64.78.185.89] I had it freeze for a while when it got to this: 63.211.236.198, maybe because it could not get a dns name. When I tried it again the dns entry was unknown.Level3.net. So it is probably the hop from the network service to your ISP. |
When the browser just sits there, does it always stop at the same point in the page? Yes, usually at a blank screen or with just the banner and tabs at the top. There's a long discussion about this problem in the thread "Huge delays due to tribalfusion" - and some suggestions on how to circumvent it. |
Thanks for the traceroute.

Same thing here. About as slow as I have ever seen it! It's taking between 30 seconds and three minutes to load any page.
|
It is super slow for me right now
:( |
Now it seems to be about 80% of normal
|
Once again, crawling this morning.
Is there something that happens in the morning?? |
