I mean technically yes, but that's sort of a lot of work for tech to find everyone's most popular thread if they ask and we just don't have the workhours to devote to that

What an odd badge to implement without a way of linking in to the thread :D

Indeed -- that was my th:(ught too. I've been on here for over 20 years. I have absolutely no idea which thread(s) the badge could be referring to.

It's not a single click but if you click on the name of the member showing that badge and click View Public Profile then switch to the Statistic tab and click 'Find all threads started by' you will see all the threads started by that member and you can see the hot one(s) with the number of replies views shown in a column to the right.

I figured it would be limited to four badges visible, but somehow I have five

Please don't feel obligated to take the site back down on my account. It isn't that big of a deal ;)

ETA: now I'm not sure. This post has four under my name, but one of my posts upthread has five.

I believe it's a calculation based on views rather than replies so I've updated my original post above to reflect that. The number of views is also available using this method.

Ok, thanks! I've posted a few error fares in my days.

When I first saw that badge I thought somebody had given me a polar bear somehow.

What is your definition of a popular thread :)?

oliver2002 Aug 27, 2025 3:47 am

Plenty of badges have come in under the 'engagement' section:

Metrics - I've started 174 threads and the most active has 577 replies and 99.5K views. I only have the 'Eyes On'

Xyzzy Aug 28, 2025 8:06 am

I've started 457 threads. The m:cool:st active has 64k replies and 3M views. I, too, have the 'Eyes on' ...

What is the eligibility criterion for a "Conversation Starter" badge?

The world will never know!

Probably a high number of threads created / started.
