HTML is off because when it's on, people can set-up page hijacks in their posts. BB Code functions very similarly, but is much less of a security threat.
From your recent posts, it looks like you're uploading from Flickr and something they use is interacting with our site unexpectedly. I would encourage you to try uploading a test image from your computer or from another site. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ed82511e8f.jpg Trying again directly from the device |

No. I mean copy and paste directly into the message body (like you can do with most web-based email systems or messaging apps).
I never thought about the copy/paste from other sites issue. I'm a fan of screenshots myself (unless I'm aiming for super high resolution) because the drill is super fast (as long as you don't need to save them to a local folder and upload them). |
Why no support for HEIC images?

So, a little confused...can you use the BBCODE IMG and /IMG tags in a post or not? I have a post all written up and want to copy and paste it into the Source. When I do that, all images (which are hosted on IMGUR) appear broken. When I attempt to upload an image to FT, the code looks the same but the image works:
We flew Singapore Air first class to Tokyo in the middle of May for a 15 days adventure: [ img]https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.flyertalk.com-vbulletin/768x1024/xeep3g2h_fe0bf841e14f32450aa9e2d08d0dd0369e5a2b48. jpg[/img] <random text here> [ img]https://i.imgur.com/55xUULNh.jpg[/img] Random text here #1: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...369e5a2b48.jpg Random text #2 here https://i.imgur.com/55xUULNh.jpg I do not want to re-upload all of these photos to FT's albums. Thanks in advance |
I'm assuming this is related but I'm also seeing a bunch of 403s reported in the Developer console when I preview the potential post:
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f8a5c0f36a.png These images do resolve: * https://i.imgur.com/LnPb2mYh.jpg * https://i.imgur.com/X6xOXFch.jpg So I don't know why this javascript GET on the site is returning a 403 |
Imgur just really does not play nice with us, unfortunately. They used to, but they made a big change (the details of which are escaping me) recently and vB no likey.

test

Test. I've never uploaded a pic in a FT post before. This came from one of my albums on my laptop. Now, how do I post a pic from my phone. It's a Galaxy A10e. Do I have to move the pic from my phone to my laptop first? Thx |

Thx Click on the "photo" icon. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6638b1d1e3.jpg Click on "From Device" https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6caf526775.jpg Click on "Media Picker" or whatever the equivalent might be on your phone (mine is a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra) https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0676c64f13.jpg Select the type of media. "Screenshot" in this example https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...19a5fc0a68.jpg Check the images that you wish to upload and then click on "Select" From this point on, the process is identical to uploading images from your computer. |

Thank you. Finally figured it out. :tu:

The last few weeks I've been unable to add images to my posts either by pasting in the edit box or uploading via "Advanced".
Is this a problem at my end, or has there been a change somewhere on FT? (Chrome browser on Windows 10) |
While using an Android phone, I am unable to see the image upload icon when creating a post to a thread. Any ideas?
|
It's now asking to upload from ALBUMS not from the gallery. (I don't have albums) Not sure if this is an issue with my phone (Android) or with Flyertalk/vBulletin??? Edit: issue with FireFox ---> it works with Brave. |
I try to upload a jpg picture with the "Go Advanced" option. I always get an upload error. No hint what went wrong or why I can't upload any pictures. I checked the data type, size of the file. All good on that side.
That's what I get Upload Errors filename.jpg: Upload of file failed. |

The photo was less than 1 MB. I never see a percentage bar or something similar. I'm not sure if it is an issue that I'm ussing Opera as Browser.

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? If not this will be worth trying.

Is there any progress on this problem? I really would like to post pictures but it still doesn't work.

I'll open a tech ticket

Upload of file failed
I'm trying to upload an 800K jpg. Clearly, size is not an issue here but I keep getting the message "Upload of the file failed".
It seems this has been a common issue for a while. Have there been any recent updates on this issue? I've tried using both Safari and Chrome on my Mac. |

Not reassuring that this was last commented on in summer of last year with no progress, but I have the same problem. Have tried multiple browsers, turning VPN off and on, triple-checked that file size is within limits. No matter what I do, I get "Upload of the file failed." I can't post photos anywhere on FT and it's really, really aggravating.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1d395a8cb.jpeg But it stopped working on my Mac with FF about a week or so ago. |

More than 99.9% of my posts over the past eight years have been by phone.

Anyone have any clue about how to get the issue with posting photos sorted? Is there anywhere to report the problem other than here? |

Im having the same issue. iPhone running on iOS 18. Im resizing the pictures to under 1500x2000, and using a photo editing app to make sure the file size is under 1,000 kb. Can’t upload pictures to FT no matter what browser I use on my phone.
I used to be able to post pictures directly from my iPhone. |
